Cycled up and down the 40km or so of designated cycle roads along the west coast of the lake. Really flat and goes through a few villages with lots of cafes and restaurants etc. Great place to go with kids and lots of bike rentals available. We liked the area so much we actually switched our accommodation out of Dali for the last night so we could stay by the water and do more cycling. Obviously be aware of the UV, but what a beautiful place and all set up with modern facilities at a good price. We also did a day long driving tour round the full lake using a local guide with various stop offs along the way. There are some good viewpoints on the east coast (where they seem to be developing more) but personally we just preferred riding around on the bikes away from the traffic. Well worth a visit and we'd go back again and spend longer.

The Erhai Lake in Dali is really, really beautiful, especially on sunny days, where the Erhai Lake and the sky seem to be connected, making people feel very relaxed and their hearts return to peace. The wind in Erhai is strong and it blows very cool. However, it should be noted that Erhai Lake belongs to the the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau area, so the ultraviolet ray is very strong, and it needs to strengthen sun protection.
