The entrance is located at the base of the bridge. The entrance fee is ¥250 for adults on weekdays and ¥300 for weekends and holidays.

You go up 49m in an elevator, you get to the maintenance level underneath the bridge. There is an enclosed walkway directly underneath the bridge roadway.

Designers had some fun, they have a section of the walkway that has a clear floor. You can see straight down into the water. I personally found it entertaining to watch folks freak out. The promenade itself is enclosed with a chainlink fence and there are viewing areas spaced about. At the midway point, there is an indoor enclosed area that has Tom's Cafe, a souvenir shop, restrooms, and observation areas.

The view is spectacular. Not only can you see the view underneath the bridge but you can see the surrounding area. If the weather cooperates, the view is amazing.

If you are nervous about heights, this activity may not be suitable. In fact, the bridge really moves when heavy trucks go over the roadway above. The bridge creaks, rattles, and rolls which may make a few nervous types uncomfortable.

It is very windy outside. Be forewarned.

It is a BRIDGE! In fact the longest suspension bridge in the world! Fantastic engineering achievement.

I must admit – when I paid my 100 yen admission – I didn’t quite know where I was going. I imagined it was the entrance fee to the seaside park. That’s actually free. I was led by a man to the lift & whisked up the equivalent of 8 storeys (47 metres) where the small exhibition hall, with flower arranging when I went, led to an open walkway (wired grills for safety) on the underside of the massive bridge. The whole thing shook every time a vehicle passed overhead. It was certainly impressive!

I tentatively walked to the glazed viewing area right under the bridge, where there was a pleasant café & further exhibits relating to the bridge construction. A further open walkway projected out 150 metres over the open sea. I’m not too good with heights & this was pretty scary. I turned back when I reached the glass floor section & sought refuge in the café!

There are great views of the inland sea & the coastline both from the bridge & - more quietly – the Maiko seaside park itself, where there are some large grassed areas. I enjoyed the space, but thought though– what a shame there ere no children’s play areas. A few swings & a slide would have made the ground level area great for children. Access is directly from Maiko JR train station.

如果你喜歡工程項目,世界上最長的吊橋是值得一遊的。距離大阪很遠,乘火車大約需要2個小時。從神戶出發僅需30至45分鐘,因此如果您前往姬路城(Himeji Castle),建議您在此途中停留。

The longest suspension bridge in the world is worth a visit if you like engineering matters. It is only 30 to 45 mins from Kobe, so it is recommended as a pit stop if you are traveling to Himeji Castle, as it is on the way.

The entry fee is reasonable and the sky-walk (roughly 40m above sea level) is around a 10 minute route. You can view the beautiful views of Kobe and its surround on the sky-walk.

What better way to view the world’s longest suspension bridge than from right below the earthquake-resistant carriageway of the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge? The entrance fee is reasonably priced and best of all, it’s fairly uncrowded even on weekends. Although this attraction is a little out of the Kobe downtown area, it can be easily accessible via the JR Sanyo line with its Maiko station stop a short walk from the base of the bridge. The best part of this attraction is walking out onto the steel gantries directly below the bridge’s carriageway and feeling the rumbling of the vehicles above. And if you’re up for it, waltz on the see-through glass, which is definitely not for the faint-hearted!

We visited this attraction during summer time with view of the towering masts of 3911 metered long bridge over Seto inland sea. There are 2 historical buildings , former SunYatSen 's residence. It's very cool place to stroll around, even midday time.

I am apprehensive about recommending this area, just because it was lacking in the rush and hustle of tourists, which ironically I am one of. If there was a limit to how many tourists can visit a place before it becomes too loud and noisy, this area would fulfill that requirement.

This part of Maiko is easy to reach, it takes about as long to get here from Osaka as it would to go to Kyoto or Nara--roughly 45 minutes to an hour. There are limited express trains which can get here in several stops.

Connected to this area is the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge for any architectural enthusiast, or those who love to see huge things. Also, there is Maiko Park just east of the bridge. I happened upon a flea market there on Saturday, which was a pleasant surprise, since I like to shop and browse those types of places, although it catered more towards children's clothes and toys, they did have other items.

At the beginning, I said it wasn't a tourist spot, but it is a local spot. Brimming with older Japanese and families when I visited. It gives a better, untouched, look at the people and the place you are visiting.

Spectacular view of the surrounding area by entering to the observation deck which is located at the 8th level of the bridge. Also there is an area with a glass floor which provides a view of the sea underneath as you walk on it. Amazing attraction!
