I never saw so many tigers. Specially many white tigers to see very closely. it's really quite a experience.

Learn on the move!
This is a really educational tour for us, every inch of the park there is something for us to learn everywhere from the plants to the wildlife. The enclosures are really well maintained and I can tell that a lot of effort has been put into preserving the mountain in its wildest form. The animals are thriving and full of life, such as the ostrich and the tigers. A stark difference from what we have at Singapore Zoo. There were also many kiddy activities lined up at affordable prices.
However, expect to walk really a lot, it is a must to get the tram ride tickets at 50rmb per adult. It provides a pleasant ride up the slopes.
Will need at least 4 hours to tour the entire park.

They really converted the whole mountain into a wild life park. This is amazing. Both my daughter and me love the scenaries. We bought the entrance ticket and the tour car ticket. Your need a tour car ticket to move you from different park (there are approx 4 to 5 different park inside). There are still some walk require within the park. If you love to walk, just ignore the car ticket and walking around the whole mountain is possible. Not really much varieties of animal around but definite got two Panda (they are asleep during my visit).

The Yunnan Wildlife Park is just a short drive from the centre of Kunming and it offers a great day out for all the family. Its set in a picturesque hillside location, and surrounded by forest and lush trees. Its a large zoo v covering a big area, so you need to catch the buss to save your legs! However, if you're energetic, you can walk the zoo but its a long walk. The zoo is well set up and the animals all seem very comfortable, you can see lions, tigers, pandas, birds pf all types, and many many other animals all is pretty natural settings. There are restaurants and heaps of attractions for kids. Its a full day out so take your hats and suitable clothing for the season, but you will enjoy it.

One of the least crowded place to see the panda and other wildlife animals up close.
Well maintained and decent space for the animals to roam around.
Wished that the electric car ride is an unlimited one instead of restricting to just 3 rides.

We had very mixed feelings about going to this wildlife park but we were desperate to see Pandas and they didn't disappoint. There were 2 and they looked like they were having a lot of fun playing with each other and eating.
Some of the other animals weren't as lucky but the park definately seemed to be moving in the right direction towards animal welfare. I hope that the more people that go there the park will be able to spare more money towards improving the lives of all the animals (not just the popular ones).
It was a bit confusing where everything was placed (we had no detailed map) but I think we should have tried to catch the electric cart(s) all the way to the end to see the pandas and tigers first and then walked back through all the other exhibits. We got to the park at lunch time and the tigers were getting put away for the night by the time we got to the end where they were.
Bring extra cash as there were lots of fun extras you could pay for. We got our photo (and played with) 3 month old baby tigers, fed leaves to giraffes and threw carrots for bears to catch. We would have liked to have fed the racoons too but ran out of time.
It was an amazing experience. You could easily spend a whole day here.

Wanted to go here, mainly because of the tigers (a favourite of mine), of which they have a lot, including white tigers. Large park, with many animals roaming free in their areas that you can interact with (not the dangerous ones obviously), so you can walk amongst small herds of Zebra, deer etc. Definitely much better conditions than Kunming Zoo. We caught the electric bus both ways, with stops along the way as you wish, but you could catch it to the end (lions, tigers etc) and walk back, but it is a fair way - they say 6.5kms, but may be a bit less. Entry is 100RMB for adults, 70RMB for over 65 - show your passport, & free for over 70's. 40RMB for electric bus. At the tiger area you can pat a tiger plus photo - 60RMB for one, 100RMB for couple. Easy to get to from Green Lake area, catch 235 bus for 1RMB each, about a 45 min trip, ends at the park. Circus type performance at the end is not the best

I'm not really one for keeping animals in cages, but as this zoo appeared a bit more 'open range', we thought we would visit. There was certainly a good variety of species, and while some animals (most noticeably the two pandas) certainly appeared contented with enough space, the condition of some other animals (and their enclosures) let the whole experience down a good deal.
For instance, we encountered one sick deer, and two peacocks with infected eyes. The lone jaguar also appeared very stressed, and treatment of the parrots (chained to unstable metal stands, with club music blaring at them for hours) seemed cruel and unnecessary. In addition, the lion feeding, while obviously exciting, seemed too unsupervised - witnessing one boy jerk the meat out of the lions reach for a good 5 minutes was just depressing.
Visiting: We paid 40 yuan for the electric car return, but then walked back in order to see the 'open range' areas we drove though first without stopping. It certainly did not seem like a 6km walk back, I'd estimate that it was less than half that. If you don't mind a bit of walking, I'd recommend walking towards the big cat and panda area at the end of the park, and then catching the electric car back (only 20 yuan) - this way you will get to walk through both the open zebra and deer areas, although there is more uphill.
We caught bus 235 back from the Park, which goes to the eastern side of the Green Lake (1 yuan each). There also appeared to be other bus routes that terminate/begin here.

this is not for PETA members. The Yunnan Wildlife zoo ignores all laws from the west, allowing you close up views of the animals, where you can even pet a few. THe best part is that you can buy chicken and other edibles to feed the critters. You'll attach the bait to a "fishing rod" and feel the power of this beautiful creatures. Expect to walk a lot. White tigers, white peacocks. Nature at its best.

We had a spare day and visit this park. It was a really nice afternoon; lots of animals and the highlight was seeing the panda and so many tigers and lions. I had a bit of a mixed feeling by the shows they do: they let bears, monkeys, camels, birds etc perform. We bummed into it and hardly could watch this. The animals have lots of space, but in this park the become used to interact with people, which I don't like.
