The church-refectory of St. Sergius of Radonezh on the basement in the Naryshkin baroque style divides the territory of the monastery into two halves. You can climb up the high porch. The church building is large and bright. During our visit to the church, a very beautiful male choir sang.

The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh is the main church of the monastery complex it is a part of. The exterior is undergoing massive renovation and reconstruction. According to the information posted at the church Peter The Great ordered it to be built between 1690 and 1693. The structure has an outside platform that runs down one side of the building. This portion of the structure is in most need of repair. The structural archway causeway between the church and the building next to it is also in need of major repair. This structure holds wooden scaffolding with seven bells in it. We were able to enter the church while the exterior work is going on. The interior has many frescoes throughout the church. There are heavy metal reinforcing rods throughout the interior walls across the vaulted interior facing the altar area of the church. These rods really takes away from the beauty of the interior. The church interior is still worth a visit to view the beautiful Iconostasis and the frescoes in the ceiling and above the Iconostasis.
