Very nice and aesthetic mall in Johor Bahru. Also more quiet and peaceful here as compared to other malls such as City Square.

The mall is too big and things are quite expensive. Good selection of shops and restaurants. The mall was quiet during my visit and not as vibrant as other big malls in JB as it is more "high class."

Mid Valley, a great place to shop until you drop. A huge range of stock that you cannot see in other shopping areas.

We visited Johor Bahru hoping to go to Legoland. However the day we planned to visit, it rained and thundered so we spent the day at the Mid Valley Mall. While it was a letdown for the kids compared to Legoland, we did end up buying a lot of snacks and toys for them to make up for it. The mall has a lot of stores that are quite affordable and plenty of eating options. There is also a movie theater there. One can spend a whole day there like we did and come out happy. At the end, we asked the kids how they felt and they said they were okay not going to Legoland. That was good and we saved quite a bit of money by not going to Legoland.

Huge new mall. Quite a distance away though from JB customs. If don't drive, take Grab ( about 10-15mins from City Square) - cheap fare, about RM10 one way. Lots of food & retail options. Direct link to St Giles Southkey Hotel.. Nice new big hotel - in our opinion, the best in JB.

I do not like going for an overseas trip just to shop at the malls. But Singaporeans always associate JB trip with a visit to one of their malls. City Square, AEON, Angsana, Sutera, Komtar, Paradigm, Holiday Plaza, Toppen and KSL are no longer the vibrant names. Now, when you go to JB, the latest newest integrated mega mall is Mid Valley south key Mall which was opened in Apr 2019.
I took the bus T21 from JB Sentral to Permas Jaya though this same bus can alight me at the mall. It would be plain boring if I soak myself in the mall for one whole day. I prefer to include an exploration of the neighboring town. The bus fare is RM3 flat for both destinations. Permas Jaya impressed me with her rich culinary heritage like their traditional Bak Kut Teh, Thunder tea rice, Yong Tau Foo and many other street foods. I visited the Permas Jaya AEON mall before walking my way to this mega mall.
It is like comparing a small ikan bilis with a gigantic shark when you compare Permas Jaya AEON with this mega mall. Permas Jaya AEON only has one floor but this mega mall has more than 300 retailers spread across 6 floors, from the latest fashion trends to gadgets, international cuisine and local flavours.
It is really huge and spacious. I like the lustrous floor layout design which was sporadically studded with pouches of green floral landscape of trees and plants and seats for you to rest your legs. There are so many shops of international brands like Marks & Spencer, Cotton On, Charles & Keith, UNIQLO, PUMA, ROLEX , etc just to name a few but my attention was caught by the huge queue at the numerous eateries at the ground floor and at the 3rd floor.
The Hazukido Croissant open kitchen concept bakery has an array of yummy and colorful croissants on display which attracted non-stop queue. But an assortment of their croissants in one box can cost a hefty RM130. The Lavender Bakery, at the other corner, was also packed with many customers queuing at the cashier counter with their fragrant and delicate bread, cakes and pastries.
The seats at Oriental Kopi 华阳 were so packed with customers who came for their delicious Nanyang cuisines (Nasi Lemak, curry chicken noodles, etc). I tried to order a box of their Portuguese egg tarts and was told to wait for another 2 hours.
Din Tai Fung boasts of their contemporary Taiwanese cuisines like Xiao Long Bao but No Pork and the eatery was crowded with Muslim patrons. The other eateries that attracted Muslim patrons were The Chicken Rice Shop, Secret Recipes , Nandos and Old Town White Coffee. The seats at Penang Cendol were also fully occupied with customers tasting their distinctive Teochew cendol desserts and Penang food like Assam Laksa, Penang Prawn Mee, Ice Kachan. The eatery has a rich 83-year-old history in Georgetown. Nam Heong Ipoh which also has a 60-yr history also attracted many customers with their house made dim sum and their ultra-popular egg tarts.
A & W, Meng Meng Roasted Duck (阿明帝皇鴨), ZUS coffee also attracted a sizeable crowd. I am not sure if the customers and patrons comprised mostly Singaporeans who came here during the school holidays.
For Japanese cuisine, there are Ichiban Ramen, Kinsahi, Sushi Zanmei, Ramen Bankara while Korean cuisine, one can find Dubu Yo, Kyochon, Palsaik Korean BBQ and Jang Won Korean BB. But I could not find any vegetarian eateries.
The Taiwanese bubble tea shop: Xin Fu Tang (幸福堂) and their Brown Sugar Boba Milk drink also has their presence here. But I don't really like bubble tea because of their high sugar content.
I bought a box of Penang tau sar piah at Tao Yuan shop for my family. But I think the next time I would buy a box of chocolate chiffon cake at Lavender.
To catch the bus back to JB Sentral, I just need to go to B1 and walked a short distance out from the building to the bus stop. It was raining when I left but the bus stop has a shelter and thus, I was not drenched. It is very easily accessible and convenient. I departed from the mall at about 4.30 pm and was at Kranji mrt station at 5.30 pm.
It is fun and a pleasure exploring the various eatery outlets and shops in such a huge integrated mall. Nam Heong Ipoh, Oriental Kopi and Penang Cendol were new to me until I came here and see for myself how popular they are with all the big crowd.

It is so far the best shopping mall in Johor. Supermarket veggie and fruits fresh but other goods not so fantastic. Middle range prices. Hugh shopping mall better than KSL as more spacious.

Mall is huge! I visited during the Chinese Lunar Year with my family and being people from Singapore, we just wanna have a getaway to enjoy a full day here but did not expect it to be full of people. There were all sorts if food around on the Basement as well as the top floors serving. Queues were long and we ended up eating HongKong Cuisine which isn’t a good choice. Then we end the day at Penang Chendol on the basement as Old town Coffee was packed.

How to go by bus to mid ville at JB city square

Hi, you need to walk to JB Sentral Bus Station, head towards bus bay no. 1. The bus no. is MV2.
It costs RM$1.00 and takes about 15mins (with 6 stops) on a no traffic day. The bus service starts from 9am and leaves in 30mins intervals.
It brings you directly to the doorstep of #MidvalleyJB. To get back to City Square, you need to wait at the same entrance where you alighted. The return bus service starts from 9:15am and leaves in 30mins intervals.
Hope this is helpful :) Enjoy!
Does this place have movie theater?
