The area is breathtakingly beautiful. We were walking around the building and so surprise that they allow us to enter the building. My education isnt un architechture, but I always have interested in the art of designing and constructing buildings. This is an amazing place for us to visit, it’s beautiful as the scene in a movie

This large European style building is located at the bottom area of the Tottori Castle Ruins and is surrounded by two nice gardens. One in front with a long lawn towards the building and one in the back (called Horyu-in temple garden).
The Jinpu-kaku building itself could really use a paint-job. It looked rather badly kept at least on the outside. The building was built in 1907 and, as I understood it, was the first building in Tottori with electric lights. Anyway this mansion, including the gardens, is worth a visit for sure. The entrance fee is just 150 Yen.

The garden of this place is designed by the designer of the famous Meiji Shrine Gaien Garden in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The admission fee of the building is 150 yen, but it's free to explore the gardens. The picture of the building and the gardens is best taken from the Tottori Castle Ruin, which is just next to the Jinpukaku.

A building from 1907 for the then crown prince to have a short stay; building style is French Renaissance, rare in Japan during that period. Entrance fee of ¥150 is well justified, the spiral staircase without any supporting structure is something very special, its use is prohibited at this moment due to the development of cracks in supporting walls.

You can enjoy walking at the huge front yard and viewing the beautiful backyard from the first floor balcony of Jinpūkaku.

This building is one of Important Cultural Properties (government-designated) in Tottori.
Built in 1907, French Renaissance style building, built by the engineer from Tottori. The spiral stairway (4m) without any support is a 'must see' amazing craftsmanship with such beauty.
You see the transition of feudal society to modern westernized Japan in Tottori and elsewhere through exhibitions.

Visiting a stately house in any country, you generally expect to be blown away by the decadence or to at least learn interesting things about the period it's from. I didn't really get either from this place.

大正天皇が皇太子時代訪鳥の際、適当なホスト宿がなかったのでわざわざ建てられた洋風館。東郷平八郎が同行している。今は観光客が来場賑わっている。ここの必見はトイレ、当時のまま残さ
れている。remains as it was, which I mean, the toilet in which the prince used .western style building.
