Very complete roman theater (because it was restored by the Seljuks). There are many theaters in Turkey but this one has all three levels of the stage background and also the arches at the top of the seats.

An excellent example of a Roman theatre, reputed to be one of the most complete in an unrestored original state with few repairs done. Those restorations that have been carried out are in the style which matches but makes it obvious so you can see how much of the original remains. Quite steep terracing compared to the many we have seen on our month in Turkey. A stunning piece of architecture worth the entrance price on its own. Which is just as well as the rest of the site is unrestored, overgrown and with uneven rocky paths with not a great deal to see.

The ruins in Aspendos are wonderful. We first drove to the aqua duct ruins and we were very much surprised by the vastness and preservation of the structure. Then we went to the ampitheatre which is much more preserved that the collosuem in Rome. It was fantastic site with good history boards in Turkish and English.

When we're travelling in Turkey, we could see quite a few ruins of ancient theater.
Some of them were made by the Greek, and some other were made by the Romans.
This ancient theater was build by Roman Empire.
We can also see ruins of Romans aquaduct on our way to Aspendos.
The theater was well preserved. However, please be mindfull of steep and chipped flaight of stairs if you are travelling with you children or elderly people.

We have visited various historical sites in the Antalya region and can say that the Aspendos amphitheater is the best preserved. This is a wonderful place for cultural enlightenment and walking through the archaeological monuments of the ancient city. I note that most of the city and its facilities are located on a hill, where not everyone goes. If you have baby strollers, then unfortunately you couldn't go to the aqueduct, you should take a baby stretcher.

Built circa 155 ad and accommodates 12,000 people. The acoustics are amazing and it is still used as a venue during the summer months for opera. It is in amazing condition and really does have to be seen to be believed.
If you have time, explore the adjoining ruins of the ancient town. See details on the pictures I have left here for you.

Well preserved place with rich history.
1. As being one of the most well preserved theater of antiquity, this place definitely worth your time if you are really interested in turkey history and greek architecture.
2. There is not too much people there because it is relatively far away from Antalya. Therefore, you can sit in the theater and imagine 12,000 people sitting around you and watch a show together. Pretty magnificent , isn't it.
3. Remember to bring your camera and fill them with pictures, this place is incredulous ;)

About 35 Turkish lira, we did Perge and Aspendos and it worked out at 70 each total admission so quite cheap for the amazing architecture and history

Looking at going to Aspendos from Belek in next few days, but struggling with the website on my phone. Does it open at 8am and can you hire a guide or handheld guide/radio to help explore and understand the history?

from Belek to Aspendos is about 25 km or less than 1 hour so, to be sure that itsvopen ,its better to leave belek at 7:30 or 8 then when you reach Aspendos you are sure that its open.
