Fantastic site, would have liked a guided tour but there was no one available. However the guide book proved useful - such an interesting site and well worth a visit

Having stayed in the Antalya area for a week and visited several sites, I left Perge with the location with the full package, theatre, stadium and something the others tend not to have streets full of columns. You get more of a sense of how it used to be. At the far end, it’s worth going up the hill to the view point and looking back. Also don’t forget to pop across the road by the car park to the theatre. If you are only going to do one ancient city in the area, visit here.

My very first ancient ruin, so I am very impressed! We used the train to get to Aksu, then strolled along the road to Perge, very easy. Train - we were not sure (and am still not sure) if the local tram/bus card works for trains - the train ticket machine was broken but a helpful security guy showed us to use our credit card for entry, very easy.
We arrived about 10am, and thought the place was quiet but by 1pm it was nearly empty which was fun. Try walking to top of the hill (north) for a great view over the whole area.
And yes the arena was open, so keep your original entry ticket in your pocket.

I think it’s worth seeing this place, obviously if you are coming from god knows where, it is not, but if you are in Antalya I think it’s worth seeing it

This place was beautiful. We came for an evening stroll with a stroller and a pregnant wife and still managed to walk around a bit and get an appreciation for it. If I visited again I would probably take a formal tour guide and see all the grounds (which were huge). The added bonus was the tortoises roaming about which made my daughter happy.

Beautiful ancient city with Roman baths, marketplace, hippodrome. You need a good 2 hours to really appreciate the surrounding.

This place is nice but honestly not amazing and not worth the trip of you are busy and have other things to do. We got our own taxi from Antalya old city, the guy waited for us. Whole thing was 400
Lira. We were offered tours that was 8 hours long and mega money, do
Not get a tour. Look it’s historical but not well kept and looks taty and messy. Not a highlight for sure.

Of the 3 ancient city. This one is relatively flat. Nice area for walking and it takes about 60-90min of your time. The theatre is one of the best preserved ones I’ve seen so far. I’ll rate this 2nd best ancient city of the three

This is the place where apostle Paul preached as stated in the Bible, Act 14:25. We took the bus number AF04A, about 55 minutes ride from Antalya near our apartment hotel to Aksu directly. By the way, the bus schedule as stated by Google map was incorrect. Moovit app.com had a more accurate time. Took the bus to Aksu, the bus terminal. Please note that the bus driver was not allowed to receive cash. Passenger needs to have a bus card. From the bus terminal, just walk down the downhill street and follow the google map direction. It took us about 30 minutes easy walk to the entrance. 60 Tl entrance fee. Don’t throw away your ticket after getting out of the main park, you need it for entrance to the amphitheater outside the park across the street. This is a very big archeological site well worth visiting.

I'm going with my son who will be in a pram and won't be walking yet. From the pictures the flooring looks a bit uneven do you think it would be suitable to go round with a pram?

I’d shop around for a tour guide as the site works in partnership with Antalya Museum (where many of the funds are displayed) and one of the local universities. We used U Can Travel (with an office in Antalya) and their guide was a Professor from the university, providing a historical tour of Perge, Aspendos and Side.

Hello I have a few questions: 1. How can you get a tour guide? 2. How long does it take to see the ruins for someone interested in the history 3. is there any way to avoid walking for hours /facilities for people with walking issues ?

You questions have pretty much been mostly answered but I did want to clear up the issue with the Colosseum being closed for years. It is actually open for touring and it is by far one of the best preserved Greco-Roman theater's in the world. Exploring by foot is necessary but the path's and roads are not difficult to walk on. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most difficult to navigate by foot, I would estimate that Perge would rate around a 2 to 3. Two hours would be a decent amount of time to explore as long as you're not a budding archaeologist.

How do I get there using public transportation?

the tram to the expo has a stop called 'aksu 1'. From there it is a 20min walk to the ruins. We purchased the transport antalya card from a mobile phone shop and you use that on the tram. It was very hot on the 20 min walk, but it was hotter inside the site.Taxi from old city quotes 90 TL which we paid to get there because I did not know the tram went so close. Returned to the city on the tram which has a stop very close to the old city when it returns
