Had to do some shopping and was told this was the place to visit and I am glad that we did. This area is full of cafes, small restaurants and shops where you can buy a wide range of things from spices to clothes to luggage and everything in between. Haggling is also strongly recommended and does work here. The shop/stall owners were a bit pushy for our time/money but nothing that couldn't be handled + we did see quite a few beggars/homeless people so keep thins in mind. Overall, a bustling place where you can easily spend 3-4 hours.

Really authentic Egyptian bazaar. If you want to see where the locals shop and get some great bargains/souvenirs you need to come here, no tourist prices, but remember to haggle!

The music played around shopping centre
is very sad. We come inside with smiles and we want to make a shopping but in 10 minutes
this sad music change totally our mood and we are going away. Bad experience. And very bad marketing strategy.

La musica in filodiffusione è davvero triste. Siamo entrati motivati e contenti di fare shopping ma questa musica ci ha cambiato l'umore e stiamo andiamo via. Pessima esperienza. E pessima strategia di marketing!

I don't even know where to start with this place!

Our uber dropped me , my fiancé and my 8 month old baby in an area which was surrounded by crumbling buildings, traffic which constantly beep at you when trying to cross and what looked like deserted village.
After asking the Egyptian police they escorted us to 'the market'.
Can only describe the market as an image from the slums. So unsafe, poor little kids begging for money and no actual obvious nice souvenirs or market atmosphere.
I've been to a few markets in Bangkok and around the world. This was just something else. Safe to say we flagged a mini camper Down and took a short trip to marina instead.

I'd say it is like Hiroshima on 7th August 1945, but that'd be unfair on Hiroshima as there wasn't any taxi drivers ripping people off there.

Uber is a MUST as the taxi drivers will try to rip you off even after you agree a price with them.

Dahar is a horrendous place full of conmen and pick pockets, doubley horrendous if you're a woman who doesn't want to be harassed beyond belief.

There isn't much aesthetically pleasing about this area either, least of all the broken buildings, never finished building sites, open skips, and piles of rubble you'll inevitably see.

If you're holidaying here don't leave your resort or stay in El Gouna instead.

I'm not raving about this place like everyone else here. It was a normal fruit&veg and livestock market and it's as described - an authentic Egypian market. But tbh it is like any other market in Europe, but dirtier and with more livestock. If authentic Egypt is seeing animals being live butchered to you then go, otherwise there's not much to see.

It looks like the type of place Bird Flu started.

You're really not missing anything if you skip this, you won't find souvenirs and probably won't buy anything.

If you really want to go, Google will take you to the wrong place. Got to Mr Grill instead and the market is behind that area.

You have to see this because it opens a world you can’t and will not be able to imagine unless you’ve seen it yourself, with your own eyes. People can be bargained with - I would not advise to buy a lot of things from here - overall positive and negative things I remember from this market. It’s a must see thing however, to experience the whole Egyptian feeling!

If you can’t read Arabic, you’re toast! Just gotta hope they don’t overprice the goods, but’s that’s the only thing you have to be worried about.

It is an amazing experience. Everything is so nicely put and all the produce is from Egypt. I never knew they grow avocados and mangos in Egypt! People are so friendly. You can try so many things, dates, strawberry’s. I have seen the biggest broccoli and cauliflower in my entire life. Very impressive. I think they weighed at least 3 kilos, but likely more. I’ll add a picture of them as well.

The live stock wasn’t a very pretty site. I have chickens myself and the chickens there looked ill. No wonder, they don’t have any space the poor things.
I have seen fruits like ‘ashta’, a peculiar looking thing which tastes like banana and mango. Delicious! Brought some home with me.

An experience one must have! Just go with the flow and you’ll love it.
