Had a fantastic 3 days riding through a variety of terrains (incl. sandy beach, forrests, mountains). It was an incredible riding experience, but also superb in terms of arrangements and the people on the trip. David is a great guy and incredibly resourceful.
Some of the routes are trial and error as the landscape keeps changing, but this makes it all the more interesting and challenging. The rental bike was in really good condition, the food tasty and the accommodation perfect for the purpose. I am already planning to come back for another, longer, adventure in Indonesia with David. Highly recommended if you enjoy enduro motorbiking!

Even passed through lush sawas, moonscape volcanic canyons, dense forest and quaint villages in just a few hours? My ride with David was absolutely unforgettable. The KLX150 was perfectly light and powerful to cross shallow rivers, climb rocky trails and navigate the narrow paths through the paddy fields. We rode for almost 8 hours straight, which was perfect for me as an experienced rider. David is friendly, knowledgeable and will tune to route to your personal needs. He has done hundreds of days of riding in this area and knows all the nice places. When you love motocross bikes and Indonesia, don't miss this one!

What a ride!! In my travels I have often been frustrated by cycling tours that offer adventure but serve up tame and boring days. This was pleasantly different. Dave and his fiend Cedric took me on a challenging ride up Mt Merapi, a mix of pavement, single track and fire roads that winded upwards through some of the most idyllic surroundings I have ever seen while cycling. And of course what goes up must come down and the descent was thrilling. Great company, strong cyclists, and very knowledgeable, I would highly reccomend this trip to any serious cyclist who is looking for a real ride, not a tourist trap. thanks Dave and Cedric for showing me a great day in the saddle, I will be back for more next year!

Just finished a 6 day Offroad Tour with David at the Yogyakarta region. The tour was very diverse from a terrain perspective, varying from rocky downhill, riding through riverbeds, sandy beach tracks and small forest trails. David made sure I got my hours of biking in per day and has offered a great view of this beautiful area. I had booked a private tour with David and a mechanic, riding on a brand new 150cc Kawasaki bike, which is more than sufficient for the technical trails during the tour. The temperature at the mountains is pleasant, in the south it can get steamy hot. I've been on many other Offroad Tours in Asia and can highly recommend riding with extreme offroad Yogyakarta as their service and pricing is spot on. David was so helpful from the start in coordinating a ride that I specifically wanted. Phenomenal communication and support throughout, was able to get a solid 30mi XC mtb ride done in Indonesia! David took care of all the gear and supplies throughout the day (including gloves for my cousin), leading to not only a great exploratory ride, but cultural introduction to the country. Thanks David for all your help and welcoming us into your home so openly!

Did a two-day Enduro trip with a friend that David from EOY had put together, based on our (limited) experience. Spend the night in a very basic accomodation at the foot of Mt. Merapi that enabled us to get started again early next morning. The tour was fantastic and included basically everything I had wished for: rocky stones in the lava-fields, hidden villages with very friendly people, narrow single trails that also a Mountainbiker would dream of, rivers that made us soaking wet....The price was fair, especially when considering that a Mechanic was with us the whole time, fixing minor problems right away (thanks "Black", great job!!). And a good person to have around when you are exploring the middle of nowhere!
David is very relaxed and you feel that he does it for the joy and not to earn a living. He is not a full-time tour operator, depending on as many customers as possible, but does it only if time allows. I also recommend that you take the name "Extreme Outdoor..." serious. The tour actually is extreme and definitely not a good idea if you just want to kill some time around Yogyakarta. I think I am rather well trained but was exhausted (but happy!!) when the tour was over. And therefore so grateful that David had booked us in a marvellous AirBnB the last night (see "ApriliaVilla") that was included in the price as well. All in all I highly recommend to book a tour with EOY when you are as passionate about outdoor as David is. I will certainly come back, next time maybe for the Enduro beach tour. Or for the hike up to Mt. Merapi. Or both :-)

Together with a traveling Irish couple we went up to the Merapi. Heavy rain and wind almost did dicide me to stop and wait in a shelter for better weather. As it only got worse we dicided to just keep going. In a fast tempo we walked and climbed up. All wet we reached the top an hour before sunrise. Yes, it was very cold and the wind was trying to blow us in the crater. Truly a Extreem-Outdoor experience. As it seems that the sunrise was not suposed to show it's beauty to us that morning we decided to get warm and head down again. It was a great trip and I was very happy to be home after that.

David and I did a personal tour on dirt bikes. I haven't been riding motorbikes in years and it was my first time going off road. We drove through forrest, little villages to the top of the volcano. We took a different way down and through the most spectacular canyon. David catered for breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks, to make sure that we are not exhausting he offered sufficient breaks. He also took Lots of footage from the day which I can take home amongst the best memories.
Thank you again David - I'll be back for more!

We met David in March 2016, when a couple of friends and I decided to visit Yogyakarta, he came highly recommended by our Airbnb host and rightly so. We had decided that it might be fun to climb a live volcano and while i myself did not make it very far up the volcano my 2 friends did with the able assistance of David. From the get go he was upfront about the difficulty of the climb and his calm personality really does give you confidence. From the pick up at the villa to dropping us off the next day David was an excellent host and great guide. I will definitely be going back and doing some of the less extreme activities with Extreme Outdoor Yogyakarta.

We found Extreme Outdoor through searching the internet as my friends and I wanted to have our first experience climbing and active volcano. None of us had any experience climbing any sort of mountain as where we come from, Singapore does not have anything more than hills. From the get go, David responded promptly to our queries and was very eager to bring us on this adventure. When we first met David, he was extremely friendly and encouraging, and it set the atmosphere for what was to be a very intense but fulfilling climb. It started out with 3 of us, and the initial part of the climb already took us by surprise. It was cold and extremely steep but David kept encouraging us. Unfortunately one of our friends decided against continuing the climb, which left 2 of us. As we got further up and fatigue started setting in, David continued talking to us and his endless energy and stamina was amazing and that really kept us going. He continued to tell us about the stunning views from the top. However, he did not force us to push too hard and allowed us to have ample stops to rest anytime we wanted, which was important as we went at our own pace. When we reached base camp before the last climb to the summit, I was ready to give up especially when I saw the daunting track which was steep, barren and just seemed impossible. At this point my other surviving friend called it quits. David asked if I wanted to carry on and I agreed. On that arduous last climb to the summit there were many occasions where I really could not take a step further (I am not kidding) because it was just loose rocks or soft ashy ground which meant every step forward i took, I slipped 2 steps back. Sounds very dramatic but i kid you not, and David maintained his calm demeanor and he really encouraged me to make the summit, and i am very proud to say I did it. Really kuddos to David for being a awesome awesome guide. Very experienced and very supportive. When we come back to climb the other beautiful volcanoes/mountains I would definitely engage David again! I would definitely recommend Extreme Outdoor Yogyakarta to any adventure seekers looking for a good time, you will not be disappointed.
