What a wonderful experience visiting Laos with a small group of people interested in conservation and elephants. Who doesn't love an elephant? We experienced the colonial city of Luang Prabang, the Elephant Conservation Centre, the beautiful country side and the friendly Laos people. We were fortunate to have an elephant expert on our tour who gave informative presentations and shared his vision for elephant welfare.

This trip combined learning about Asian elephants, together with discovering the beauty of the Laotian landscape, the charm of Luang Prabang, and the friendliness of the Laotian people. It was enjoyable travelling with a smallish group of like-minded people and such knowledgeable guides. The excellent accommodation and most of the meals were included in the price, so we didn't have to worry too much about money while on the tour.

Being part of the inaugural tour with Orangutan Odysseys to visit the Elephant Conservation Center in Laos was a fabulous experience. Travelling with three experts involved on the ground in elephant conservation was an absolute privilege. The group questioned Alex, Michael and Leif relentlessly throughout the trip, they welcomed our interest and were happy to share their knowledge with us. We all learnt so much about the many challenges faced by elephants across Asia.
And then there was the majestic elephants themselves - what an awesome experience to ethically share some time with them, and learn more about plans to improve the welfare outcomes for both wild and captive populations in Laos.
There was also plenty of time to share some fun activities, and learn more about the culture and history of this stunningly beautiful country.
The team at Orangutan Odysseys were great, as were the local guides, everyone ensuring we all enjoyed a great holiday. The accommodation was perfect, the food never ending and delicious, and the group was great fun.
I highly recommend a tour with Orangutan Odysseys and their conservation experts. I will certainly be travelling with them again.

We have just returned from the Tanjung Puting tour organised through Orangutan Odysseys. Our 3 days/2 nights on the klotok with guide Husni and the crew was a fantastic experience. Every part of the tour went to plan, from pick-up to drop-off, and included many, many sightings of orangs, proboscis monkeys, Storm's Storks, kingfishers, and langur monkeys, as well as a gibbon, pitcher plants, fluorescent fungi, coucals, a saltwater croc and much else besides.
We emerged with a better sense of the immediate and dire threats to the dwindling habitat of these endangered creatures. The creep of palm oil plantations and the day-to-day impact of human habitation poses an ongoing hazard to the rainforest environment of Borneo; our hope is that tourism is the least worst option for securing the preservation of this fragile eco-system.
Orangutan Odysseys made our trip hassle-free by organising all of the accommodation, catering, flights and transfers for our 7 day stay in Indonesia. All aspects were superb, especially the catering (although we would easily have gained a few kilos has we consumed all of the food offered to us!!)

Just back from a 10 day trip to Sumatra visiting Leuser NP. We visited Beristagi, climbed the spectacular Sibayak volcano for sunrise. Then on to Ketambe for jungle camping. We were lucky to see quite a few orangutans and other primates and a fascinating visit a local bee farm (native bees). Next we went to Batu Ronring for some great jungle trekking and swimming in their beautiful river. The trip was finished with 2 nights at Bukit Lawang for more wildlife viewing. We loved staying in orangutan bungalows. Our guide Lucy was wonderful, looking after all of our needs and answering all our questions. She was also very flexible. The local guides selected for us were all great. All the food was very tasty. We often heard how this company (OO) helped local communities and this is so important to achieve real outcomes for nature conservation. Thanks Garry for putting together a flexible and unforgettable trip.

The East Borneo Tour offered by Orangutan Odysseys was a unique experience that broadened my horizons and is easily one of the best trips that I've ever been on. Garry, Alice and the rest of the OO team are very well organized, considerate, and a pleasure to communicate with from start to end. The tour included a fundraising component for The Orangutan Project, whose members and volunteers I had always wanted to meet. This trip gave me everything I hoped for and a lot more!
Trekking through the rainforest alongside Garry and the local rangers was a moderately exerting and hugely rewarding, unforgettable experience. We were able to find elusive wild orangutans, while taking in all the sights and sounds of plants and animals that make up this invaluable yet endangered habitat.
One of the many unexpected joys of the trip was getting to know the other participants, traveling together, joking and telling stories. I say this as an introvert who generally doesn't exude a lot of social energy.
Finally, it was wonderful having TOP's founder Leif Cocks among us. He shared his knowledge and wisdom in a very warm and friendly way. His compassionate take on conservation and other modern-day challenges brought a huge boost to my hope in humanity.
All in all, I could not recommend Orangutan Odysseys enough! I hope to find myself one day on another one of their tours!

To book the Leif Cocks East Borneo Tour May 2023 was the best decision I ever made. It was so much more than I’ve expected. Thank you for this amazing and life changing experience.

Experienced the Tanjung Puting Orangutan Experience in April 2023 - absolutely thrilled with our trip - totally immersed ourselves into the world of Orangutans and the wildlife of Borneo. Our guide Muk's knowledge of the animals, flora and fauna was extensive and we learnt so much. The klotok was comfortable and the food was amazing. Totally recommend travelling with Orangutan Odysseys.
