Animal Abuse and a handfull fruits
Nov 2021 • Teman
This is awefull. Its a Banana Plantation, you can buy some fruit drinks and get fruits: Guava, Banana, Dattes and Orange.
The toillets are not clean, women cant sit there, the bottom is durty.
The worst is the animal abuse: two Nil Crocodils in a smal cage, monkeys and chicken too.
Please do not support that and pay for it!

I was genuinely horrified

The ride on a motor boat into the island was lovely. The Nile is amazing!

Banana island was absolutely terrible! It limited to a small amount of banana trees, and poor animals in very small cages! The 2 crocodiles barely have any space to move on their cage! It's definitely not worth a visit!!

Don’t visit this place

A small banana farm with animals in even smaller cages.

Don’t visit this and just take photos of the banana trees in the West Bank near The Valley of kings etc, buy some bananas from the market and imagine monkeys in a small dirty cage.

The boat ride there was pleasant but the destination is certainly not worth visiting.

Complete waste of time, nothing to do nor see just people trying to take money from you. Just like everywhere in Egypt

Complete waste of time, nothing to do nor see.
Feeling so bad for the few animals.
At the end of the tour before returning to your boat, you asked and given bananas to eat quickly shady owner come ask you for entrance fee when there’s no sign. I yelled at him and left without paying!

I am happy that I choose not to go

Thank you so much for this information. I thought that I miss something special but not at all. I would not want to see the poor monkeys in their cages.

Banan Isla nd should be banned.
Feb 2020
The old Banana island on the east bank odf the Nile was a wonderfully eccenrtic place. The custodian Mr. Lovely ran his cafe and emporiun with joy and wit ( A-baord claiming Asda price!). His lease ran out and the name Banana Island was given to a place on the west bank of the Nile, reached by felucca or motor launch It is in no way comparable to the original Banana Islan and is not run by Mr.Lovely.
This is a joyless money grubbing filthy place. It tries to overcharge for crips, drinks and ices creams. It has two depressed crocodiles lying im a shallow pit of foul eater with no room to tirn round and a large cage compleltey devoid of stimuation containing three sad littlwe monkeys huddled together in a corner. All it needs to give them some environmental entrichment is a few tree branches and an old tyre or two on a rope to give them some cover and some fun. Ther was no water or food in the cage. I asked if there was anyone I could talk with about cage enrichment but was told "he is not here today". The toilets were clean though.

We visited the "island", which ISN'T an island on 5 March 2020 by fallucca. While the boat trip there and back was very good, the island itself is a tourist rip off !! We arrived and were shown 3 small monkeys in a very small cage with no sign of water or food or anything to keep them occupied. They just sat huddled together in the corner of the cage. All that would be needed was a rope/tyre swing and a few branches to climb and I'm sure they would be happier. We asked to speak to the person in charged, only to be told that " man not here " ! Next we were shown 2 large crocodiles in and 10 feet round pit with hardly any water in it ! The pit was far too small for 1 crocodile never mind 2 ! We were then left to wander round an uninhabited " village" with nothing going on. The man in the " cafe" tried to sell us 2 ice lollies for 60 Egyptian pounds each. These only cost 15 pounds each in our local shop in Luxor. When we complained he charged us 60 pounds for BOTH ! On the way OUT we were told that we had to pay 10 each entrance fee ! WHAT A DUMP !

Don't go there
Mar 2019 • Pasangan
We were recommended to go there by our guide. The island is accessible by a rather short boat trip, which was nice. On the island you'll find different kind of fruit plantations. You can have a stroll through a banana plantation. At the end you will see some crocodiles in a very, very small pond/cage, some monkeys in a poor rusty cage and a sad horse. There is absolut no human treatment of the animals. Please don't support this animal exploit.
The island is quite dirty too.

Animal Cruelty and Bananas
Jan 2020 • Pasangan
It's not an island. It's a small area of farming land like many others on the west bank of the Nile. The restaurant was ok but unremarkable and then there is the "zoo". If you have any regard for animal welfare, keep clear. Two monkeys in a bare cage with nothing to climb on. Three crocodiles in a bare cage with no water and not enough room to turn around. The keeper was happy to poke then with a pole for our entertainment.
If you want to see a glimpse of the real Egypt, get a boat to the west bank and wander off at random. The people are helpful and friendly. Accept invitations to join them for tea or food and pay then more than they ask for.
