Very educational
Agu 2019
Great knowledge about the Guyanese people. The last part was truly educational as the curator educated me on the stones, writing, and ways of the indigenous people. If you want to know more about the original inhabitants of the country, visit this museum.

Near the president's residence, this small museum has few genuine artifacts. I was particularly interested in the hieroglyphs, but they seemed to be copied onto artificial stones. I misunderstood the instructions about taking photographs; they said you are only permitted to take selfies. There I was clicking away when one of the staff politely reminded me that only selfies were permitted. Frankly, not much worth photographing.

no picture and simple

the exhibits are quite simple honestly. yet there can be no picture. the canoe is most interesting part.

A bit dry, but it does contain information about the Amerindian peoples of Guyana and their culture.

Nice, but without guide

No one guide you there. It's a great place to be informed about Amerindian cultures and communities from the Guiana shield. I think it can be better, but you should go with time and read a lot to understand a little of the history of Guyana.

In the wider world of museums this would not rate highly. BUT in the context of Guyana and understanding the historical context it fits the bill, especially given limited resources available in this small country. Yes, it could be better, but there is enough for an understanding of previous inhabitants and lifestyles.

Small, few exhibits, but worth a visit

This museum is in a beautiful old building and is very easy to find (although the prominent signage on the fence outside is for the Ministry of Education). While the museum is not comprehensively curated, there are a few interesting things to see and it is worth a quick visit. When I went nobody was there so I am not sure if there is an entrance fee.

Sometimes good things come in small packages

A modest place containing an unusual collection of artefacts. There is no entry cost but a donation is welcome. The information and items are displayed in a traditional style with no fancy gimmicks but you can't help but be drawn to things and take away some piece of information that you hadn't previously known.
