Lovely, interesting, varied, informative, tasty Turkish local Food Tour with Necla, running from morning to late afternoon, we enjoyed about 5 different food experiences, all excellently chosen to suit our family of 5, with 3 children under 7. Necla tailored the tour to the needs of parents and little children very well, across a few different neighbourhoods and cuisines of Istanbul. Necla also helped with recommendations for our stay in Istanbul to make the most of our time here. We then bumped into her the following day at one of the cafes she recommended and the kids loved it. Highly recommend!!

I rarely take tours, but upon recommendations I saw here, I signed up for a foodie tour. What a great decision that was! Our guide, Necla, is now a friend for life. She is down to earth and personable, and cares so much about her culture and cuisine and showing the joys of those to those of us who want to discover it. She met us at our apartment and spent the next six hours or more taking us to different parts of the city, introducing us to cuisine and the city. She tailored the tour to our preferences and our style. We spoke with her at length about all kinds of topics, and ended up catching up with her again later in the trip just to spend more time with her! Highly recommend.

We also booked two tours, Istanbul Highlights with Rasim that took us to most of the main tourist destinations in the Old Town and the Artisan tour with Duygu that was more off the beaten path and gave us a lot of insight into the neighborhood near Galata Tower. Both tours were perfect and not only were Rasim and Duygu just cool people, but they introduced us to others and made the people we met some of the best things about our trip.

Duygu brought us around Beyoglu,to try different dishes/snacks at cafes, restaurants and even roadside stalls. The food was really good and varied, sometime going to get just a single portion to be shared amongst the 5 of us.
I appreciate that she gave us very different places to experience, from traditional restaurant to hipster cafes
She also gave many suggestions for our meals later as we can't take in all on the same day

Wow. This was a great choice. We met our guide Nejla at our apartment and she spent the next 6 hours introducing the three if us ( including teenage daughter) to the foods of Turkey. O am not sure what Turkish people would do if there wasn't: tea, coffee and food. The whole city is full of cafes and restaurants and local people enjoying them. To get the most out of your trip to Istanbul book a trip with Offbeat Istanbul on the Foodie Tour. They are going to show you the ropes and leave you do the knowledge to carry on. Neil's also has experience in teaching Turkish to foreigners so she helped us with our Pleas and Thank yous and everything else we needed to learn. A fantastic host and a great experience. Book it!

What a piece of luck that we were allocated Rasim as our tour guide last week. we couldn't have asked for more - nothing was too difficult and every question was answered in superb English and gave us a real insight, on our first visit to Istanbul. Each full day flew by and in being introduced to the city's history, architecture, people, politics, food, etc etc, we realise that we will have to visit again and hope that Rasim is still guiding.

Normally when traveling I avoid any type of organized tour. I much prefer to explore and adventure on my own, and my friend who I visited Istanbul with is the same way. But at the last minute, we decided to book a private food tour through Istanbul Place (also our highly recommended Airbnb hosts). It was the BEST decision we made! The cost compared to group tours offered elsewhere, and yet it was private and customized to our specific tastes and diets (I am a vegetarian, my friend is not, and we wanted to be sure to try plenty for each of our tastes). Our guide was Necla, who is now our friend for life! She is a knowledgeable foodie who took us to places we never, ever would have discovered on our own. We sampled pastries, street foods, unusual pickles, Turkish breakfast, meze, soup, tea, coffee, and more. It was such an incredible day, filled with incomparable flavors and conversation. Necla gave us so many wonderful insights and perfect advice to help us optimize our experience in the city. This is a MUST for anyone visiting Istanbul. I highly recommend scheduling this tour early on in your stay, as it will help you understand the foods that you eat during the rest of your visit, as well as the various customs and hospitality associated with eating and drinking your way around Istanbul.

Istanbul walking tour with Erol as our guide was a superb way of getting an initial insight into the amazing history of the city and provided a good orientation on the major sites including a stop for tea at the spice bazaar. Would definitely recommend this - Erol was v gentle and answered questions posed fully and considerately.

Necla introduced us to a very personalised side of Istanbul on a fabulous walking and ferry boat view of the city. She communicated with us prior to the day and asked about our needs and wants and planned accordingly. Her choices were fantastic and a real insight into local life, local tastes and local culture. She left us with further suggestions to continue to explore after our day out. Her English is amazing, her personality was engaging and we can’t wait to return and enjoy another day out with her.

Nejla was the friendliest and most knowledgeable guide we could have hoped for, she had extensive knowledge of the city and all of Istanbul's culinary delights. As a part of our walking tour we visited and ate at a broad range of establishments serving delicious food.
Like any talented Chef Nejla expertly mixed together food, drink and snippets of ancient and contemporary history, folk tales and Turkish traditions. She even recommended places for our extended journey without her. We drank the drinks of Sultans (Demirhindi!) and we sampled food from the Black Sea region, we feasted on food and culture in one magnificent morning. Our bellies and minds were full and she left us to get lost in cabinets of wonder at the Museum of Innocence (hugely recommended).
Nejla is funny, intelligent and engaging, we wouldn't hesitate to meet up with her when we return to Istanbul. We hope to return the favour if she ever visits London.

I will be visiting Istanbul on May 20 for 3 weeks. I've been reading good reviews about Necla's 3 hour tour of Beyoglu. I will be staying in the Karakoy area. How do I book a tour once I get settled? Thank you
