I am a big fan of water puppet when I was younger . The plays I used to watch had a story line and with much more actions . At the moment it is good but too simple and I don’t know if I could say I was proud of it watching how poorly and simple the content is. I think this is such a beautiful and animated form of art and I hope to see more investment and better content as well as executions.

This theatre is completely managed by young boys and girls, just that made us feel good, it must be encouraged.
It was funny, can't compare with other ones as we visited only this one in Nha Trang, but we liked it.

Water Puppets – Nha Trang’s unexpected delight

During our stay in Nha Trang, an unexpected delight was going to a performance at the town’s Water Puppet theatre, just across the road from the beach. This lovely show, lasting around an hour, comprised dozens of wooden puppets performing in, on and above a huge square water pool, around which the audience were seated.

Historical legends, myths and folk tales unfolded before our eyes, and it didn’t matter at all that we didn’t understand the language – the show was a visual and musical delight, and language was no barrier.

The (surprisingly youthful) puppeteers themselves work behind a colourful flat, and come to take their bow at the end of the performance. Whatever age you may be, this wonderful little show is for you!

Actually really enjoyed the show despite having no idea about the plot. We were able to just sit back and enjoy a traditional form of entertainment.

Theatre itself is a little tired and dated but that just added to the atmosphere.

No need to pre- book as we just walked up to the 7pm box office and got tickets. There were only a few people so we got to choose where to sit.

220000 VND was acceptable for the ticket and much cheaper than the other theatres we have seen advertised in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi.

Even the teens appreciated the show

I’d recommend seeing water puppets in HCMC. This show in Nha Trang by comparison isn’t good at all. I would say 1/3 of the audience walked out during the show.

This event worth to see if you want to visit something really special and traditional to feel the culture of this country, though the price is quit expensive: 250.000 VND for adults and 90.000 VND for kid.
The duration of show was about 30 minutes, 2-year kid was extremely excited.

Vietnamese culture at its best

This show is probably one of many things that keeps the Vietnamese culture alive. They host 2 shows daily. The show is full of lights, dance and music. Thought the show is in Vietnamese language its easy to understand what they are trying to depict. Cheers to the guys who put up the show so wonderfully🙌🏻🙌🏻

I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed this show. When I was in Hanoi, some people I met talked about how unusual the puppet theatre was there, and didn't speak highly of it so when I got to Nha Trang and had some free time, I had low expectations. But what a delight it was. I don't speak the language, but you can follow along anyway. I would recommend seeing this show if you're in Nha Trang.

After traveling the whole country by motorbike from one capital to the other
arriving to this night performance in Hanoi was the most emotional experience we had.
