The outstanding Women’s Museum in Hanoi left a lasting impression on me. So I had high expectations for this museum in Ho Chi Minh City, but I was quite underwhelmed with this one.
Part of the reason is that it appears to be under renovation, and only part of the first floor is open to the public.
And that probably reflects the ticket price – – free.
If you get a chance to tour the Women’s Museum in Hanoi, don’t pass it up!

This is a very interesting museum from a number of perspectives. The various floors hold differing themes. The history and evolution of the native dress is immensely interesting. Once again, the floor dealing with the conflict is incredibly touching and deeply saddening.

the Southern Women's Museum is pretty traditional, about the role of the Vietnamese woman in war and family, the cloths etc. Mostly photos of female heroes and alike. not really a must see, but if you don't know what to do, still a possible visit.

Currently undergoing much needed renovations, once complete will be a must see, If the ao dai display is an indicator of what's to come. At this point if you are short on time you could perhaps miss this one, but if you have the time it will be time well spent.

This could be a wonderful “boutique” museum dedicated to the women of Vietnam. There are fascinating stories of the role of women in the struggle for unification and a wonderful range of clothing and weaving. But it seems to lack a strong focus, not helped by disinterested staff. As an example the lights were all of for the first 10 minutes of opening. The second floor is currently being renovated although it appears that’s been going on for some time. It a shame as the museum has fantastic potential.

This is an interesting place and well laid out. It was interesting to us as American's. We found it nice that the females, who play such an important role, are recognized. It was unfortunate that the day we went there were several preschools touring as well.

First floor, an interesting display of traditional dresses and learning about dying and weaving. The third floor is all about woman service to the party. Not much about woman's roles, how they used to live, traditions, stories, songs, education etc....disapponting.

It’s a little out of the way, but I’d say it’s worth a visit to this hotel. Apple maps doesn’t make it easy to find, but it’s off the main road.
There is no admission charge.
The museum is filled mostly with pictures, but there is one floor of fashion to be seen.
Give it a go if you’re close by.

It's rare to get the women's perspective of history in a museum and this captured the role of women in the Vietnam war and in the union movement really well. It also covered aspects such as women's clothing across the centuries (beautiful) and work traditionally associated with women such as weaving. Beautiful and interesting.

Visited this place on my own on one of my last days in Vietnam. There was no entrance fee at all, the guard just gave me a badge and I headed inside. I loved all of the exhibits and the theme that each floor had in explaining the influence of Vietnamese women on Vietnam's history. The saddest level was the top floor which was about the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers whose children were martyrs in the war. Overall, a very informative museum and personally a must-see along with the War Remnants Museum. There was perhaps a handful of other people in the building with me so it was easy to read all the plaques. My favourite floor was the 1st floor with Vietnamese Women and National Identity.
