Temple in Memory Of a Horse
Jan 2020
We visited Wat Khuan Khama on our way back from visits to Wat Lok Molee and Wat Rajamontean. It was not on our itinerary, but we stopped by anyway. Entrance was free. According to the information board, the wat was build in memory of a horse, and you will see a golden horse statue in front of the entrance. The other buildings here are Viharn, an ordination hall and a chedi.
We were there at noon and it was quite a hot weather and best to carry a hat, sunblock and water with you. We spent about 15 Minutes here to look around and capture some pictures. Transport is easily available to go back as it is located on the main road.

Worth a visit
Nov 2018 • Pasangan
Just across from Wat Lok Mo Li is Wat Kuan Kama, the horses temple, whose wall contains about 50 horse statues. On the temple complex you can admire some more animal statues like rat, cow or snake which are based on the Chinese calendar.

Wat Khuan Khama dates from way way way back , 1492 AD
Apr 2019 • Sendiri
I visited Wat Kuan Kama along with three other temple comples within one block, including Wat Molee and Wat Chiang Kuen.
The temple is Very Old. It is located at 143 Bankuankama Rd, just inside the moat along Shripoom Rd. The size is approximately 94square, making it one of the smaller temple complexes in the area. On the grounds there is an ordination hall (ubosot), assembly hall (wihara), a pagoda/chedi, sala and kutis.
The Garden of the Hoirsegroom who was a close loyal soldier of Jaomun Dam Tuang and after his horse died it is said that he was really sad and decided to donate his garden to the temple and he gave the Temple the name Khunkama.
I found the area relaxing and sacred, and enjoyed visiting with locals who were there doing the same.
There is a Thai massage area and I received a really good professional maggase for the cheapest yet, 120 Baht.

Wat Khuan Khama
Nov 2018 • Sendiri
Wat Khuan Khama ( "Khunkama" or "Khuan Kama") is located 100m from Wat Rajamontean on Sri Poom Rd, Hard to not see it with the golden horse statue in front of the entrance, The construction is from the end 15th century. Due to a tale, it's a horse groom and soldier of the local ruler, who has decided to donate his land for the building of a new temple in commemoration to the death of his horse. A notice board at the entrance retells the story. The buildings were closed when I was there, so I just walked around the complex .. The viharn has a large tiered roof in two sections decorated with naga heads and the columns and door is decorated with gold motifs on a red background. The golden chedi is Lanna style .. Difficult to give an objective advice, but I think this temple is not a priority unless you have a lot of time ..

Impressive Gold Design
Mar 2019 • Sendiri
Designed in gold, green and red with beige walls, this temple is next to the most on the busy road.

Much like other temples in the local area, it has the same design and architecture. Not worth making a trip across the city for, I did ride past it at night time on my hired scooter and it looked more impressive as it was lit up.

Unfortunately, it was closed when I arrived but I was able to get a good look at the outside of the two buildings and the building at the back of the main temple.

Watch out for TukTuk Scams here
Agt 2017 • Pasangan
Wat was nice but small, literally only spent a few minutes walking around as the lot is tiny compared to others.

Met a seemingly kind and thoughtful man who suggested a few other wat's along with a trip to bo sang (tourist trap where they pay the tuk tuk driver to bring people). The scam was really quite amazing - He even taught us how to negotiate with the tuk tuk drivers and explained how much we should pay and that we were being way overcharged. He spent time to build report with us so we ended up trusting his advice. It was so well done that we actually didn't realise what had happened until we got to bo sang and we're placed into a show room of gems along with other tourists and guided around the shop from table to table. When we asked to only go to one more, we were dragged/guilted to two more...

Both driver and friendly local were in on it - as we exited the Wat there just happened to be a tuk tuk driver who was willing to give us a killer price for the 'mini tour' the man sold to us at the temple.

Temple with horse theme
Jun 2017 • Sendiri
Wat Khuan Khama is across the road from Lok Molli and has a large Buddha as well as a large number of golden horse statues. According to a sign in the temple the horse theme is due to the temple grounds once being owned by a famous groom and soldier who dedicated the land to the temple when his favourite horse died.

1492 temple dedicated to favored horse
Des 2016 • Keluarga
This Wat - adjacent to the larger Wat Lok Molee - has an interesting set of golden horse statues. Turns out a royal soldier lost a favored horse, felt sad, and dedicated this plot of land to become a temple, with memory for his horse. The temple outer wall also has interesting array of zodiac animals.

It's just a temple, nothing special comparing to the other temples in old a chiang mai.
I wouldn't recommend spending time in it.
