I've read it is not a great beach for swimming - that was NOT our experience. Great waves for playing, plenty of shallow area for younger folks, and beautiful beach.

This is a really neat beach to sit and have a picnic, either on the black rock beach or even from your car in the giant parking lot. There was a huli huli chicken place here but we decided to just eat our packed lunch. Homoa beach is just a skip away if you want to swim. This beach was good for people and wave watching unless you are into surfing, which we were not!

We headed to Koki Beach for Huli Huli Chicken. While we were waiting for it to open at 11:00 a.m., we explored the beach. One end of the beach is sandy while the other end of the beach is rocky; surf was fairly strong. We enjoyed the trees on the beach to keep out of the sun.

If your near Hana, definitely check this out of the way beach. It’s beautiful! Requires several steps down a well maintained step way. Easy to maneuver.

Pulling up to the beach, beach chairs in hand, picnic packed. We are all set to enjoy fabulous fresh fruit from fruit stands and surfing. The beauty of the beach was great too. Well worth the very short drive off the beaten path!

This is a nice red sand beach to stop at if the road to the more famous red beach is too wet. It is right off the road. Water can get a little rough but it was nice to walk to the cliff and back. Also make sure to stop at the huli huli chicken place just past this beach.

We've select this beach once that has parking spto, picnic spot and is beautiful.
The water as hot and the waves were small, but enough to play.

Just off Koki Beach are two pretty amazing sites to see! First off, the famous Huli-Huli Chicken outdoor food stop is here, and second, you’ll see the rumored home of the Demi-God, Maui himself, just off the shoreline. It’s hard to miss since it has a lone coconut tree standing tall at the pinnacle!

This is not a beach for people who are not strong swimmers. The waves hit you fast and strong. It most definitely is a workout! The red sand cliff is quite spectacular. One can see the bird sanctuary island and have frigate birds fly overhead in abundance. Not a big beach by any stretch. If you need a restroom, they are down the road at Hamoa Beach. No lifeguard and many warnings about the rip currents. Plenty of surfers in the afternoon.

Locals advised us to come to Koki Beach to see the red earth rather than the traditional Red Sand Beach, as the recent rains in April, made the path to the Red Sand Beach dangerous. You can easily reach Koki Beach by car, turning off at mile marker 49, from the road headed from Hana in the direction of Paia. There is plenty of parking at this beach. The waves can be strong here, so swimming can be risky. The red earth cliffs backing this beach and the islets off shore make this a very scenic location. A local bbq lunch spot just near this beach.
