The high moor path "The Tinners Way passes close by here on route from Cape Cornwall to St. Ives, it puts a whole different perspective on Penwith, since at times you can see both coast lines and a clear view of St Michael's Mount and Gurnard's Head. Many other points of interest on the way.

May not be as impressive as some stone circles however it is in a beautiful location which lends itself to the imagination and worth the walk to visit it. Respectfully maintained.

Tregeseal East is a late Neolithic or early Bronze Age stone circle, also known as the Dancing Stones. According to legend, girls who were dancing on the Sabbath were turned to stone as a punishment.

Originally one of a pair, this stone circle, about 70 feet in diameter, is all that remains, with 19 stones ranging in height from just over two feet to almost five feet.

The remnants of the western circle were completely destroyed by land clearance and ploughing in 1967. The site may have been even more complex as aerial photography has revealed signs of what may be the remains of a third circle to the west, on the same axis as the original pair.

This is fascinating stuff for anyone interested in stone circles.

The stone circle is in the middle of common moor and can be a trek to get to. Park at bottom of No Go By Hill (it's a steep hill) in Tregeseal (just outside of Saint Just), walk up the hill until you reach a right hand track (Kenython Lane) & walk about 15 minutes along here and you will reach the circle across muddy moors. 19 stones in this circle and they aren't as well looked after as others in the area (such as Merry Maidens) but that adds to it's charm. Plus there is no-one else around and you are likely to have it all to yourself. I found the site to be quaint and nurturing. A must for stone circle enthusiasts. I'd add photos if Trip Advisor would let me.
