Interesting place. History dating back to medieval times past World War 2 and more recent Tuna fishing history. Opening times can sporadic. Most people suggest to only go if happen to be in the area. Run by a volunteer art group. Free but donations welcome. Suggested donation. 2 euros.

Small attraction

We stayed in the area. Was well worth a visit, contributions taken. You could see that they were adding to what was there, but not worth travelling to. If staying again would revisit.

Well for good exercise. We decided to walk there from Golden Sands it took us one and a half hours, up many hills. We arrived at the museum and looked at the time of opening and it said Wednesday 2.30 p.m we waited until 2.45 p.m. but nothing. Oh well I am sure the exercise was good for me and it really is a nice bay but the museum what can I say if you could not get in.

Quick Visit
Mei 2019
We popped in here for a little look as it was a free museum. It’s very small and you only need about 20-30 minutes to be here, but it was worth a dodge in for a look. We were shown round by a gentleman with a great deal of knowledge and he explained in detail all about everything in the museum. Don’t go out of your way to come here, but it’s worth a look if you’re staying local.

we found this unexpectedly on a little walk from pergola hotel and club while walking around. a good local attraction on our way down to Mellieha bay. nothing worth taking time out for essentially but worth a quick look as you are already there.

Seen the signs for this place from the bus on numerous occasions. Decided to stop in on walk back to the hotel. Really glad we did. No more than 20 mins will cover it but with no entrance fee it's worth calling in. We gave the suggested donation amount and were happily looking around when the volunteer staffing the museum came over and just started talking about the exhibits. He really brought them to life with his insights and knowledge of the history. Genuinely amazed that a museum dedicated to tuna fishing could be so interesting. Be aware though, it is small. It is staffed by volunteers and reliant on donations. Its opening hours are limited so you do take your chances.

A great little museum that is surprising very interesting inside with all sorts of exhibits and interesting stuff! You can even climb up the spiral staircase and take in the views from atop! Excellent explanations of how the original building was used and the surrounding stone walls that still partially remain. Free to get in but a donations are well worth it.

We walked down from the top of town to find this 1776 battery closed up with a number of stones leaning against the walls in sime sort of supporting idea.
There wasnt any info about the closure so no idea about if/when it might reopen.
Sad.

Having passed here many times on previous visits, we dropped in whilst wave watching on the doorstep.
There is no entrance fee, merely a collection plate for contributions towards upkeep.
Whilst not huge, it offered a detailed and fascinating insight to the history of tuna fishing in the bay, in addition to other local background.
However, what really made the visit was the gentleman on duty. He was an absolute wealth of local knowledge and information, and happy to discuss the many random questions we had about the area from many years visiting, along with broader Maltese history, and was extremely engaging, and an absolute pleasure to talk to. ....full credit to him for providing us with such an unexpected treat!
