Progress in the discovery of dinosaur Bruno: 'palenothology: live' thrilling experience!

I came back to the Palentheological Site where the now famous 'dinosaur Antonio' was discovered, to follow a guided tour on the recent (and still ongoing) work to extract the skeleton of Bruno, a new complete dinosaur on which the Cooperativa (supported by the Sovraintendenza) has been working in the past year.
It's the third time I visit with my family (including my children, now 4 and 7) and each time we love the guided tours and the feeling of 'seeing in action' the palentheological work. The last year has seen a lot of progress in uncovering the second full dinosaurs skeleton (named Bruno), the palenthologist Flavio has given an exciting tale of the work and the challenges and misteries still present (the 'twice folded' tail is still trapped in the rock... is there a third dinosaur tail too?). It's a very special experience to see how discoveries are made 'live' and to hear the story of the excavations from those who are making it...
Exciting and highly educational. My children also loved (again) the optional laboratory at the end, cracking the rocks to find (and bring home) fossils of fishes (those, coming from the USA, in Italy all fossils belong to museums!).

I highly recommend visiting the paleontological park at Duino. Presentation from Julia was awesome! The guides are very professional and their explanation makes the site even more interesting.

I highly recommend visiting the paleontological park at Duino. It's a unique research center, a "in situ" museum where you can see where and how scientists are digging up the dinosaur skeletons. Their staff is very friendly, explaining everything from the formation of stones to how this place has come to be. You can see and touch dinosaur bones, they show films about discoveries and even bring a dinosaur back to life. Recommended!!

We enjoyed very vivid and enthousiastic presentation from Mrs. Julia. Seeing a working site with dinosaurs still burried in limestone is fascinating.

Fascinating and fun!!

My sister visited me with her husband and grandson and I decided to take them to see the dinosaur site, we had the best time ever! We even got to touch real fossilized dinosaur eggs! It is well worth the visit (even though the site is small) the staff were professional and explained everything very well. The best part was my great nephew got the chance to hunt for fossils like a real paleontologist. I definitely recommend it!

Nice experience

It's a nice small place where one can jump into the world of dinosaurs. The dino Antonio has been found there and one can also hear a very interesting story about it. One can also see real fossils as part of a rock of other dinos.

Small but very interesting site of dinosaurs discoveries.

Children can enjoy the 3D view and play with rocks to discovers fossils.

I took a class of second graders to visit the Dino park. The instuctors ( Giulia and Paolo) were really paleotologists and they were great with the kids. We learned how to dig for fossils and got to take home the ones we found. The kids had a blast!

the best travel to past

Not far from the border between Slovenia and Italy I discoverd this paleontogical site just occasiunally. I made appointment for visit with Miss Giulia and I came this Monday morning with my students of the University for the third age from Izola, Slovenia. It was incredible how Giulia caught our attention and how interesting she explained about dinosaurus in the area, showed and explained us movie about the site, shoed us remains "in situ" and she added aloso the theme about carbonisation. For the end we tried to eat black coal - sueprise: delisious sweet!
If you are not too far you absolutely must visit the site! Ljuba Medak, prof. geo.

Really enthusiastic staff . Very good explanation of the main fossil "Antonio" and a general view of recent palaeontology. Good value at €5. A lovely walk from Duino past a Grotto.
