Having read about many downed airmen escaping by boat in the night, under the noses of the Germans, this was a must visit and didn't disappoint. Great memorials there and interesting to see the long and narrow path those brave men trod from Maison D'Alphonse before sliding down the cliff on their backsides.

I have always loved Plage Bonaparte. A huge area of sand, surrounded by rugged granite, the beach shelves sufficiently for you to body surf, when conditions are right.
Of historic interest to WW2 enthusiasts - this was the location where the Resistance smuggled Canadian Air Force personnel out of France (plaque and information commemorating this at the top of the pathway down to the beach)
If you like making sand castles, this may well be the best sand we have found in Brittany (and believe me - we've looked !)
The slightly remote setting means that (on weekdays) this beach will never be overcrowded.
I will post a couple of photographs but mark my words, you won't regret a visit to this spectacular beach !
TIP - check tidal times and get there early, after the tide starts to recede.. The sea covers the whole beach, so dry spots are at a premium !

Hello
I have read on Brittany Tourism that this beach is dog friendly. Has anyone taken their dogs here before? Can they go at anytime? Are they allowed in the water?

Hi,
I spend my holiday at that place and I was several times at the beach and as well a lot of tourists with dogs. If it is forbidden or not actually I can not tell you. If it is, they don‘t care at that time but I don‘t think so.
