Loved and cared for. That's how I felt after my visit to the exhibition at Glebe Gallery. Adrian and the staff here clearly love the place and Derek Hill's work and it shines through. Derek Hill's paintings and his collection are wonderful and a lovely insight into local life. I have been here before when the house was open, a gem, and hope to get back sometime soon when everything is open. Thank you very much.

Interesting tour and beautiful scenery

Well worth taking the tour around the house it's very informative. The setting and grounds are also very beautiful and worth a visit on their own

An Unexpected Delight

A docent led tour of Derek Hill's home is very special. The house has been maintained as though the artist is still in residence. The art collection is lovely. We were able to tour the grounds on a beautiful autumn day.

Having organised a group visit, I must congratulate Adrian and June the on providing an excellent,very informative tour of the house. (the Gallery wasn't open that day) . Their insightful knowledge and abiity to answer questions posed by a very varied group was terrific.

Tour of Glebe House

My husband and I had a fabulous tour of this unique house bursting with paintings, wonderful furniture,fabrics and many other collector's items. It was such an opportunity to view this collection. Our tour guide Mary Friel was absolutely fabulous. Her knowledge of the house was beyond anything I have experienced on such tours. The highlight was her knowledge and description of the art work. She was inspirational and her enthusiasm was infectious. Her knowledge and detail of the paintings is mind blowing. One tour of this house even with Mary's seemingly endless information is not enough to digest and fully appreciate this collection. To have a house with a collection as this in rural Donegal is unbelievable. I am already looking forward to my next tour.

Beautiful Property, Informative Tour

Never, in all my travels and tours, have I ever had the pleasure of experiencing such an informative tour. Our tour guide, Jane, knew Derek Hill personally, as well as many of the other people who spent time at Glebe House, and was, therefore, incredibly knowledge about all aspects of the property. The house itself is filled with personal treasures of Derek Hill and the guide knew the story behind each and every one; which she often answered with incredible enthusiasm. Lovely way to learn about Derek Hill and other local and international artists. The house was intimate and perfectly reflects Derek Hill's style. The grounds are also lovely for a wander after the tour. The learning experience is much more valuable than the price of the tour (5 euro for an adult, 3 euro for a child/student). I can't wait to host visitors in Donegal, so that I can share this special place with them.

Lovely morning in an eclectic setting!

Four of us joined the tour and Jean was a fabulous guide, her enthusiasm was contagious! Such a mixture of art and artefacts in a beautiful setting. Not all to our taste but worth seeing through the eyes of the collector - Derek Hill. Jean not only shared her in depth knowledge of all the art but also great stories of Dereks life in the house.

Peaceful and relaxed day out.

Loved our day out here - visited the gallery - superb artwork on exhibition - lovely informative staff that really promote all that Donegal artists has to offer - well done Glebe House. You can also bring your own picnic to relax in the gardens as tables are provided - so peaceful. There is also a superb coffee/tea house indoor, or you can also sit outside if you wish. I loved the chairs and tables in courtyard area. This is a perfect place to just walk around or 'just be' for a few hours and relax and clear your mind of hustle and bustle. You must visit the house itself - great to hear the history about Derek Hill etc... Keep up the good work Glebe House - so good to have a place like this to visit in our beautiful Donegal, Thank you to all concerned - We loved it.

A MUST SEE AND A MERE 15 mins from GLENVEIGH

This house is outstanding and not what we expected when we drove up. We thought it was just another house to se but this is much more than that. The house is oozing with warmth and character and you feel you are there with the characters that liver in it. The house belonged to the artist Derek Hill and each room is bursting with unusual decor and famous art. As philistines of art, we didn't know anything about Derek but you will leave the house with a buzz and interest in the arts. Derek painted th famous and the locals and entertained the great and mighty including Greta Garbo and Lawrence Olivier at the house. The famous John Ford, film director of The Quiet Man also stayed here along with a long list of others. Hear the fascinating stories of the locals including the cook and housekeeper Gracie. Hear the amazing story of the art movement on Tory Island and cast your eyes over a feast of art work. The guides Mary and Jean are delightful and informative. As they knew Derek Hill, they have many interesting stories to tell. The house is set in lovely grounds and gardens, has a coffee shop and art gallery. Do not drive by!

Unique and interesting home and art collection

This is such a fascinating and unique home. If you are in the area this is worth a stop! Derek Hill was an amazing artist and his home and collection of paintings are so eclectic and fascinating. Our guide of the house actually knew Derek Hill and she made the tour so personable and interesting. We loved every minute of the tour!!
