Villagio Brizantino is an unknown beauty. The tour guide was great, he knew he had so much to tell you about the history of this place, but it is also about the nature of the island. This is truly a must-see. Please note, however, that the opening hours. You need to inform in advance. In the time that we were there, it was only open on the weekends and on bank holidays.

Gianluca makes all the difference. He is a totally committed guide who care for, and about this sanctuary. It felt like a university level archeology course.

Definitely arrange for his services ahead of time in order to appreciate the site.

Such a marvellous experience to visit this historic and delicate place. And to have such a devoted guide as Gianluca who has grown up and dedicated himself to the area made it a memorable day.
Being in such an almost remote area makes it quite magical, with the presence of owls and porcupines! Yes we couldn't believe it until Gianluca's expert eyes found quils lying on the ground and evidence of battle between 2 males.
The various caves have a changing history through millenia, all of which were described to us and also the fragility of the rock. In some places limestone, with seashells easily visible, so amazing this proves it was once seabed even though we were hundreds oh metres above sea level.
But please, if you visit this enchanted place, show it respect. Not like the callous 'Ivan' carving his name in a disgusting act of vandalism to violate this thousand year old treasure.

Super friendly welcoming volunteers and dogs keen to make new friends. Wear insect repellent. Closest thing to Mesa Verde in the US we have seen in Europe so far albeit a small example and walkable area. Easy from Enna although the SS road to the North coast was closed as of November 2018 dead ending north of this site. Lovely spot and peaceful (out of season anyway). Not a fully polished tourist experience and all the better for it. Woodland valley walk is not particularly wheelchair or baby push chair friendly (but hard to see how this would be easily achieved without damaging the site. Requires dropping down to strada bianchi level roads from the already iffy SS roads. Consider the weather. Our hired fiat 500 was a bit unhappy.

What an amazing place to visit period you seriously need to see it to believe it because it is so unbelievable beautiful. the fact that you can actually coming up and go into the different levels of caves makes it all that more special. It's a bit of a hike on uneven ground so I would recommend getting one of the walking sticks they provide for free. It's free entry they just for a donation. Be sure to wear proper walking shoes to make it easier

My husband and I prearranged a guided tour of the site with Gianluca (via email), and it was a really fantastic experience. I can’t say enough good things about it. Gianluca grew up in the area and was able to provide great insight and information about the site with a clear passion for the place and its history. The setting is not only beautiful, but the caves themselves are fascinating and are really brought to life by the explanations. It was definitely a highlight of our trip in Sicily.

The hike itself is not long or strenuous (and there are many stops), but it is a bit overgrown in parts and a little steep/rocky in very short sections. Hiking or trekking shoes are recommended and they offer walking sticks if you want them. The location is not difficult to find, but the road out there is one lane so you have to drive slowly and honk when going around turns or over hills. Despite this, the experience was totally worth it.

Takeaway: Highly recommended. Be sure to arrange a tour in advance (via email or phone).

We arranged our visit with one of the official volunteer guides, Gianlucca on +393283748553. He met us there along with another couple. I used the Google Maps location which was correct although I had to manually put it into my Tomtom. Gianlucca was a truly excellent guide. He obviously has a passion for the subject and really bought to life the long history and uses of the various cave like rooms. It is a beautiful peaceful location with views down into the valley. One of the highlights of our holiday.

My son and I had a very nice day. To make a 10 years old so enthousiastic about an archeologic site that he wants to come back says it all!! Thank you for your vivid explanations and for the nice things we learned about different plants and wildlife.
Keep on the good work with looking after your wonderful past. Greetings Sabine and Julian.

Despite living nearby I was totally oblivious of the existence of this place, but now that I've visited it I want to say to everybody to go there! I was amazed by the incredible landscape and view, but above all I've loved every cave. It was like returning children. If you love nature and archaeology, please, go
