Being from the states, this was certainly something I hadn’t seen before. I did walk over to where the steam (?) was coming out, and breathed it in. I didn’t notice a difference, but who knows? It seems to be a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, as it was quite busy on a weekday afternoon in late October. It’s free, which is always nice!

The Salinental offers plenty of opportunities for walking & relaxation in a beautiful setting along the River Nahe between Bad Kreuznach and Bad Muenster. It gets its name from the 'Salinen' - large wooden frames packed with wooden branches over which salty water is run - the inhalation of the quasi-sea-air is deemed to have health benefits. There are also plenty of signed walking routes here too. We chose 'Tour Natur', which dips in and out of the ih can easily make you believe that you are in a much more exotic location. Highly recommended.
