I came here on a very hot September day. This almost made me cancel, but I really wanted to see inside and learn some of the history of Sindelfingen. The tour was being given in English by Lisa Biesinger. She does an amazing job explaining just about everything about this lovely little city from the days of the Ice Age through the Middle Ages until today. I was in a group of five ranging in age from an 80-year old German woman to and Indian father and his two elementary school aged children. Of course, there was me the 60-year old American. Lisa took into account the wide age gap and focused on meeting the needs of everyone. The children were doing work from a booklet they picked up upon entering the museum. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and came away with knowing some of the history, like why St Martinskirsche is outside the old city walls. I feel like I can now share some of my knowledge. What made the tour more special was having the sweet, older German woman providing background information to some of the information Lisa gave. Like how she was born at the original Sindelfingen hospital where the current Rathaus stands. This hospital was funded by a German woman who left Sindelfingen at 17 and went to Chicago as an au pair. She eventually became an extremely successful and wealthy business woman. When she returned as a dual citizen, she built the original hospital. Do not pass up a chance to visit the city museum. It was well worth the wait...and the heat!
