A lovely experience of typical historic french buildings and old Town Centre that have not been spoilt/damaged by time and war! The old Rampaerrts are fascinating and nearly complete despite the ages.

Time your visit for market day. As you pass through the gate of St Vincent be sure to turn right and walk the ramparts that surround the village. You will see beautiful gardens and get an appreciation for the walls the protect the ancient village.Walk through the indoor market to find the large outdoor market. Wander the streets and the market to find high end shops and local vendors as well. The street and market vendors offer a plethora of food choices to appreciate the local cuisine.

So much to see and enjoy. Walk through the whole park. I have always felt like Brittany and its nature is wild. This park seems opposite.

.It is worth walking and getting lost in the old town of Vannes. It is set in small streets and medieval squares, very well preserved with its beautiful wooden houses.
The cathedral is located in this tangle of alleys.
There are many shops and restaurants

Lovely medieval city center with plenty of old houses, shops, restaurants. Easy to spend a whole day there. The harbor is also a nice place.

The center is really beautiful, with lots of nice quaint little corners, picturesque places galore, and it's bigger than you might think.

I was surprised to see this architecture similar to Alsace Lorraine with not so straight walls, wood and a lot of charm. Many artisan shops of all kinds and beautiful pedestrian streets. We spent very pleasant couple of hours that ended with a crêpes lunch of course!

Our group of travelers from Canada took great pleasure in visiting the beautiful old city of Vannes, at the gulf of Morbihan, which means inland sea. This is another magnificent walled city. The main gates into the city are after its patron saint St Vincent Ferrier. There are many half timbered houses here that have been turned into ships or restaurants. At the Place des Lices it once hosted jousting tournaments but now hosts a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Take a stroll around the city, and take in the rampart gardens, check out the washer women's house, the 13th century tower, and the crazy half slanted timbered houses. Definitely a must see and worth spending a full day exploring..

Beautiful old timbered buildings, an artisan bakery on nearly every street in the old town, there's a market on during the week selling fruit, veg and clothes. There's a fish market and lots of lovely restaurants. A marina, a butterfly house and an aquarium, there's even a beach! What's not to love?

What a lovely planned day in old town Vannes, medieval and none of them to be missed. They can be done in any order once a parking slot has been found. We found plenty of parking on Rue Francis Decker and not expensive. Across the bridge at Porte Poterne, noticing the Ramparts and the Gardens. As it was Saturday the open market was open as was the closed market at Les Halles des Lices. Both well worth a stroll. Through a lane to the Cathedrale of Saint Pierre and then to the colourful half-timbered buildings of Place Henri IV. Time for coffee or lunch in one of the many cafes and restaurants. The roofs of some half-timbered houses nearly touch at their corners. A sense of place frozen in time. On the way back don’t miss a walk along the Ramparts and a stroll through the Rampart Gardens. If you have time follow the Ramparts down to the harbour. A big tip, plan before you go. We spent a wonderful 3-4 hours on the above and were thoroughly blown away and would have been annoyed if we had missed it.
