really good introduction to a Roman house if you don't go to other places like Pompeii. Inexpensive with good signs.

Definitely an enjoyable, if very short, visit. Clearly the price of 3 euros is commensurate. I would have preferred some more explanation.

This house is not huge, but it does have extremely well preserved mosaic floors. These mosaics are geometric designs, and some are quite intricate. One advantage to the small size is that you are not looking at the mosaics from a distance, you can see them close-up. If you are a history buff, coming here is more than worth the price of admission. If you get a Spoleto museum pass, it is one of the places included in the ticket price.

This is a must-see ancient Roman home, which shows how innovative the Romans were with designing an impluvium to catch the rainwater and also to provide light entry into their homes. There are beautiful floor mosaics too.

When in Spoleto go up to La Rocca first and work your way down from there. You can pay one Euro more for admission and get a multi pass good for five other churches and museums. Casa Romana is one of those included. Amazing mosaic floors and a good example of a home from the first and second century. Takes about 15 minutes to see the whole thing

The Roman House is a fine example of the noble residence that was typical for the Roman Empire in the first century. The excavation was supervised by Giuseppe Sordini, a local archeologist, at the end of the 19th century. The house was located near the forum and the rich decoration suggest that it was owned by a prominent citizen. There are several details that support the theory that the house belonged to the mother of Emperor Vespasian, Vespasia Polla. It is a very interesting visit that transfers the visitor to another age and its way of living.

Lovely place to visit. The mosaic flooring is amazing and although only a small museum it is worth the 3 euro entrance fee to see such good examples. My only comment would be to remove the 'modern art' that is placed on each floor. I am paying to see ancient art. If I wanted to see modern art I would go to an appropriate museum. Don't spoil 2000 year old art!

An underground Roman House dating back to the 1st century AD & believed to be owned by Vespasia Polla , the mother of the Emperor Vespasian . Worth a visit for the floor mosaics .

We almost missed this underground roman villa but stumbled upon it whilst waiting for another site to open. Whilst it is small if you love history and all things roman then it’s worth popping in and taking a look around. It certainly has one of the most intact roman floors I have seen for awhile.
