I was pleasantly surprised by the scenic value of this loaction. The mud baths, the tepid waters, the lush vegitation and the very good trattoria in the vicinity. A must for any traveller to Pantelleria.

Really nice to visit this closed sea! A lot of people put the mud on their body... however I did not choose to put it due to the smell of it. Having said that.. .its really an amazing place to visit!

Lago di Venere was the view from our Villa!
It is beautiful but the water is not the best and if you would like to do the mud mask think about it! We had an allergy reaction, we don't know why but it wasn't nice!

Nobody can imagin a lake in a small volcanic island, but it is there. The waters are not clear, but it is obvious. The environment is very special and you can feel the magic of this place, particularly in clear days in spring time.

Good for a few hours of suntanning within a volcano created lake full of sulphuric elements which you can use for a mud facial and cake your body with it to bake in the sun as what the locals do. A nice walk around the lake will also discover pockets of water bubbling with warm water from its past volcano history.

Loved swimming here when the sea was too rough. Took my flippers and crossed the whole lake and back easily. No danger(boats, jellyfish, rocks), like a huge swimming pool. Water is salty, warm and calm. A great (natural) option and better han any swimming pool!

The lake is without in- or outlets, except for the natural spring that feeds it, but there is some salinity due to evaporation. Ideal for jogging around the perimeter and bird watching (flamingos and egrets)

We visited lo specchio di venere several years ago, and it was one of the great highlights of our week in Pantelleria. The island as a whole is fascinating and spectacular--craggy volcanic rock everywhere, used for everything from building houses to building sheltered groves for fruit trees. Lo specchio di venere--the mirror of Venus--is a placid pool, shallow at the edges, deep in the center, with water ranging from a milky blue at the edges to violet blue in the deep center. Many visitors coat themselves with grey volcanic mud and come away looking like animated figures from the ruins of Pompeii. We found the place very moving--peaceful, beautiful, unexpected. The surrounding landscape is interesting, too--I have uploaded a picture--but the water is the compelling feature, and the reason to visit.

quite an experience, the place is beautiful and still in its natural state, except for a little bar close by. it is difficult to get in as there are many small sharp stones, so shoes are advisable.
