The visit we had in the Chieti cathedral was trully fascinating! I have visited many churches and cathedrals before, but this one left in me a feeling i will never forget! Im so grateful to the ACCT project for letting me have the opportunity to visit this magical cathedral and experience many more!

Cattedrale di San Giustino is a lovely, typical Italian cathedral that epitomises the faith of the Nation. It is a lovely place with very ornate ceiling frescos and detailing throughout. Well worth a visit but make sure you check the opening times as like most things throughout Abruzzo they seem to close for most of the day

I believe that I read that this cathedral was founded in the 10th or 11th century, and the interior is stupendous. Also there is a Romanesque crypt in the bottom half of the cathedral.

Outside it is a majestic structure not to be missed.
Inside, like many other churches, it was changed to a Barroque style. However, the crypt has some medieval frescoes very much worth a look.

On the occasion of a ball in nineteenth-century costumes at the Palazzo della Provincia in Chieti, for the anniversary of the Italian Republic Day on 2/6 last year. we entered the historic center of this intriguing city in Abruzzo.
Together with other friends who attended the event from Naples, organized by the nineteenth-century dance club of Chieti, starting from the Cathedral itself, which has its origins in the year 840 and was originally dedicated to St. Thomas, and whose original architectural appearance almost nothing remains, except in the adjacent bell tower, the Baroque style of the 17th century having supplanted the original Gothic style.
The latter has instead remained almost intact in the crypt dedicated to San Giustino, who rests there in an urn dedicated to him, embellished with late medieval frescoes in a small chapel to the left of the urn with the relics of the Saint, who was the first bishop of the
beautiful city.
We were fully satisfied with the visit and we intend to return, advising other potential visitors not to delay visiting it.

In the beautiful square of San Giustino, the Cathedral stands, renovated a few decades ago. Actually better from the outside than from the inside. The structure is impressive, but at the same time poor. Worth a visit, quite quick.
