Just stunning

We parked up near the temple of Juno and worked our way along the ridge towards the temple of Zeus and the Agora. It took us a around two hours to cover the site, but you could easily spend the best part of the day here really exploring this succession of stunning temples in varies states of preservation.

A must!
Sep 2021
The Valley of Temples in Agrigento has a couple of relatively well-preserved temples, Juno and Concordia, plus a couple of less well-preserved, Hercules and Zeus, plus a number of minor additional attractions. Not a small area, requires quite a bit of walking (although, there is a shuttle from one end to the other at €3 one-way). The two main temples are very impressive, and the views from many spots are tremendous. Easily accessible parking, refreshments, and there are a few drinking water fountains on the premises. A must for any tour of Sicily!

Fantastic

Fantastic! The temples are amazing. You can view them all in about 3 hours. Assuming you are not visiting in baking heat, it is a pleasant walk around the park to view them all.

Great site for historic overview of Sicily

We spent 2 1/2 hours visiting this fascinating and lovely laid out place which gives a great physical introduction to the rich history of Sicily from the Greek colony till today. Apart from the impressive ruins of Greek tempels there are nice flowery gardens, ample displays with explanations and even audio guides available. A must see when touring Sicily.

A must see in Agrigento
Sep 2021
Very interesting historical site. There is a lot of walking since the temples are spread apart, but there are paths and signs to each of the temples. The museum is about a 10-15 minute uphill walk from the temples (along side a busy street and a narrow sidewalk), but I believe that there is a shuttle bus or you can hire a taxi instead of walking.

Absolutely must see and best with a guide

One of the premier attractions in all of Sicily for good reason-it’s totally amazing. Dating from 2-4 centuries BCE (that’s over 2400 years ago) when Agrigento was one of the most prominent Greek enclaves, the archaeological park features some of the best temple ruins located anywhere-some even more impressive than Greece itself.

We visited for around 3 hours with a private guide. During Covid you must show a green pass (being fully vaccinated) to enter and follow a one-way route. You fist come to the Temple ruin of Juno (wife of Zeus) with its towering columns. In the parks center is the temple Concordia or temple of Peace one of the best preserved anywhere in the world. Further along is the massive ruin of temple to Zeus and the temple to Hercules temple rounds things out. It really is a special spot. Of course they don’t know for sure the names but through archaeological research they’ve made educated guesses.

We paid 12€ each to enter and you need to be prepared for lots of walking with little shade so definitely bring water.

Not to be missed

A hidden string of greecian pearls layed out on along the Mediterranean Sea in beautiful Sicily. It was a wonderful start to our day. My suggestion is to start early as it is a wonderful walk and cool mornings make it pleasant.
