This is part of a coastal walk from Donaghadee to Holywood, and is usually called just the Coastal Path by locals. Beautiful views of Belfast Lough, looking across to the Antrim Hills, from the undulating paved path. Popular with walkers (with and without dogs) and joggers, and some cyclists, the latter on mountain bikes who frequently treat it as a race course. Incredibly, there are plans to widen the path and encourage cycling, so make the most of the pleasnt path as it is now, in case this error of judgement comes to pass.

I live on this walk so know it very well. It very scenic no matter what the weather conditions. The evening sunsets are spectacular. It’s popular with walkers, bikers and families but never crowded. The terrain is flat so quite easy.

We were down staying in Bangor on a wee family holiday. It was early morning and the kids and fella were still sound asleep, so I went for a walk out the coastal path.

Oh my goodness, the views are breath taking. It really is an area of stunning natural beauty. Blue skies and blue waters for miles, with a clear view of the horizon. As it was early morning it was fairly quiet with not many people about. There was a real sense of calm tranquillity along the coast. Puts me in the notion to maybe move to Bangor some day so I can apprciate the scenery every day.

Would recommend this walk to anyone.

This coastal walk extends from Bangor, all the way along the lough shore to Holywood. It is mostly paved and always seems to be busy with dog-walkers, runners, ramblers and cyclists. There are numerous, well-sited, benches for the weary to pause and admire the view.

The scenery here is lovely. The whole place is remarkably clean and a welcome area for families. Lots of dog walkers and entertainment for kids with a good choice of restaurants and cafes nearby.

I love this bit of coast. Starting from Bangor Marina the walk along the coast to Crawfordsburn is just fabulous with wonderful views of the sea and opposite coast line. The day I walked it was blustery and sunny and showery all within two hours but it's great walking if you wrap up. Path is undulating so not for those out for a gentle stroll but well worth persevering until you reach the beach at Crawfordsburn.

Just been on the marine gardens coastal walk. it was a glorious day and my friend and I just started walking from the marina and before we knew it we were' half way to Belfast'. A really accessible easy walk . It was glorious today in all the sun but always interesting whatever the weather and you can choose how far you would like to go. Just for a short stroll or all the way to Holywood.

This is a wonderful walk either too or from Bangor along a well maintained and wide tarmac path that stretches for several miles from Bangor to Holywood with numerous access points along the way. Suitable for a short linear walk from Bangor and back again along to Brompton, Stricklands Glen, Carnalea, or for the more adventurous to Crawfordsburn Country Park, Helens Bay and beyond (although it would be prudent to be dropped off / picked up at either end for these longer walks).

Loads of opportunities for picnic spots along the way, small beaches and coves and scrambling over the rocks and the more expansive and popular sandy beaches at Crawfordsburn and Helens Bay. In the autum collect blackberries from the bushes along the path. Or just sit and watch the ships in Belfast lough from one of the many seats along the way...

We have lived beside this for over half a century and use it so rarely! Shame on us. It is a treasure. Walking out from the Marina past what used to be Pickie Pool and then passing what was the ladies bathing pool. Little do many people know of the milestones on this walk and of the things lost to progress. After the ladies bathing pool, on the left in an open area was the bandstand and beside it the archery butts, against the high wall of one of the large houses above on the Princetown Road. Further round one comes upon Smeltmill Bay, which was a small harbour, taking lead from the Clandeboye lead mines. This may have been the place where the Clyde Valley put in but it was carrying a more dubious cargo. Before Smeltmill Bay is Jenny Watt's cave, only accessible from the sea; the High Street pub named after her, she was clearly a bit of a gal! After Smeltmill Bay comes Strickland's Glen; you can follow it up to the Bryansburn Road or continue along the coastal path past Carnalea Golf Club and on past Crawfordsburn Beach. At Crawfordsburn beach there is a substantial Victorian building, now luxury apartments, formerly Crawfordsburn Hospital. My grandmother died there, probably from hypothermia! Continuing on, one comes on Helen's Bay beach; it is a lovely little sheltered cove, the only risk being errant balls from the sixth hole of the eponymous golf course. Highly recommended and worth a walk!
