Visited this island for camping twice, first was in 2022, And i was really surprised with the facilities especially the warm shower...so ff june 2023 went there and expecting same facilities but nope , they took out the showers and only shower left are the ones outside which are freezing cold...I just dont understand why they took out the old ones , if its all about the. heating, i dont see a problem since one of the faucets in those WC's are even too warm , and no cold options! just wondering why they have to take ou all the showers... well above all, toilets are cleaned everyday... and I just hope people will be civilized enough in using theses facilities...since i can see how messy the toilets are and the bin areas are..ugh humas are going backwards to uncivilization I guesz.

Tried to take the Oslo Fjord Shuttle boats this year, and visited Langøyene. Nice experience, and excellent for sun and sand. Aprox. 20 minutes to Langøyene, then a short walk to the Beach. Can be crowded, and With one small kiosk. Toilets are available, but smell is to be expected. Langøyene is also suited for camping With tent, but bring Your own supplies and water.

Went to Langøyene to camp with the family, and to spend a day at the beach. It´s free to camp, and though it´s considered as camping in the nature, it´s better to think of it as a camp ground, since many people are camping here. If you are visiting Oslo on a very low budget (as a tenting backpacker for instance) this place will save you a lot of money - it only cost the bus fare over (bus ticket cover boat, subway , tram and bus). You will need to bring your valuables everytime you leave, but I do think the tent will stand safely .
Langøyene attracts some alternative people - as it is a free place to stay close to the city. We encountered some homeless people living here. We didn´t mind them, and they didn´t mind us, but they are there, and if you have a problem with this, Langøyene is not the place to go for you. The campground closest to the beach can get quite full, and noisy. Children playing in the evening and party people singing during the night. You could probably find a quieter and less crowded campground further in to the Forrest.
Be awere that some parts of this Island is open for nudist bathing.
The beach is nice to visit for a day out in the sun. The water was very nice and warm when we were there, and Langøyene is less visited than for example Hovedøya, the island closest to Oslo. There is a small shop that sells soda, ice cream, water, coffee and chocolate, and other small things like this. There are also toilets, and fresh water to wash your hands. Do not drink the water, as it is slightly toxic. (bring enough water for your stay). DNT (the Norwegian tourist association) have kayak courses here during the summer, and there is also a DNT cabin available for rent. The ferry runs from May to September, starting quite early in the morning, and the last bot leaves around 10 pm.

Take the ferry across!! It takes about 24 minutes.
Take a picnic - there is a kiosk but it is extortionate. There are compost toilets on the island; bit wiffy but usable. Lovely beach areas and walks. In the fjord you can find lots of wildlife, starfish, mussels etc, As the title suggests we were plagued with wasps and my daughter got stung and curtailed this trip. Would go back; with insect repellent!!

Langøyene is the only island near Oslo where you're allowed to camp and it's free! You just take the ferry with a normal public transport ticket, it will go every 30 minutes I think. The island is a really good place to put up a tent for some days, especially on a low budget. Officially camping is allowed for two days in a row but there are many longtime campers living there, so it shouldn't be a problem if you stay longer. Contra: There is no tap water, so bring a bottle or two. There is a kiosk but it's expensive and will only open when the wheater is good. There are also no showers and the toilets are disgusting.
When it's really warm you should be able to swim in the sea. Sunset is amazing!

A short ferryride - using your already bought bus-ticket - is the Island Of Langøyene. Why I dont go here often I wonder. Perfect for camping or a day in the sun. Also allowed for nude bathing at some areas (follow the signs). Great solo, with friends or families. Huge space to play for kids!

Just do the above, you can even swim in the waters when the weather is good! Camping allowed but very very very smelly toilets round the corner. There are loads of mussels in the beach, I don't know if you can catch them or you may try to. Great for picnic and fun day out and for water activities too;) we took the ferry using Ruter 30 day pass. It's easy to island hop around there!
