A museum showing what life was like en rural Jutland 100 - 150 years ago. Interesting exhibitions. Sometimes you can have classes with the very strict school master.

This museum has been collecting stuff from ordinary peoples Lifes. The Danish State has rewarded the way of display several times. It is worth a visit, to get some insight to the roots of this county.

Give is a really small town close to Vejle, but it houses this museum, that tells some of local history, and it applies in some way to how every Dane used to live in the past. They also have different expositions throughout the year. Don't forget to eat some waffles after the visit :D

A small but precious gem of a museum in Give, Denmark

The small town of Give, Denmark, is home to a small gem of a museum. Exhibits include the history of local life and culture, and feature an actual farm house and one-room school. Why did I want to go there? Because I heard that there was a monument to the state of Minnesota on the grounds, and I am from Minnesota, so I had to see it. It was a small rock castle of some sort built by a Danish gentleman who had lived in Minnesota for two years in the 1940's and who wanted to honor his second home. However. the museum is just part of the larger community center that hosts a variety of programs throughout the year. What did I enjoy most about the museum? Anna, one of the friendly employees, took us back to the kitchen where she taught us how too cook pancakes on a flip griddle on the wood stove. We ate them with fresh berries, powdered sugar, and whipped cream while we sipped strong Danish coffee. Yummy good fun!
