Denmark is brilliant at kids' attractions and this place is absolutely gold standard. It is essentially a showcase for Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales but it really engages kids in a magical world of storytelling. You walk straight into a fairytale, with loads of different zones for different stories. There are countless accessories that kids can play with - pretend food for a regal banquet, miniature dolls furniture, a pretend cauldron to boil food in, board games, just endless opportunities for fun. There's also loads of dressing up and what I liked was not only the staggering range of good-quality clothes, but also the fact they went from baby to adult sizes so parents could join in the fun too. You have to take your shoes off before entering, and put toys away after you play with them, all of which means everything is clean, well-kept and feels respectful. We spent a really happy 3 hours here, and as part of the HC Anderson ticket, really well priced.

As a Children's Museum professional in the States, I visited The Tinderbox as research for the museum that I work for. That said, I can highly recommend this experience for children and their adults! To all the adults saying that they shouldn't pay because the children play and the parents just look, shame on you! Open up your imaginations and get on with the play! Kids love it when parents play with them and they learn so much watching adults play! So everyone in the family should sup[port this and any museum with their admission fees and experience the imaginative play!
This venue is clean and well kept. It's staff is welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is designed very well with excellent scenic painting and theatrical lighting.
So if you can't find some fun here, get your kids to sprinkle some fairy dust on you and join their world of make believe! (In just a few Minutes, I bet you will remember how to play!)

We accidentally stumbled across this place. It such great fun for the kids, dressing up, facepainting, studio settings...just all round great entertainment. There were also clay making , painting and drawing workshops,
The only downside is parents have to pay , given we just follow them around it seems unfair. But all round very entertaining for the kids- wish we could leave them there and pick them up later... that would work much better😁

Very good for children to play. It's a lovely place when children can play a lot with beautiful stuff and costumes. It doesn't make sense to have the parents to pay. I understand it's a family experience but in the end children play, parents look at them.

Whether you're 2 or 92, all that's required is some imagination to create some fun. Granted, this place is best suited for kids, but grown-ups can have fun too. It's one giant dress-up, make-believe theatre. Downstairs kids can pretend to be characters from Andersen's beloved fairytales; upstairs are additional play spaces and a craft room to practice cutouts a la H.C. Andersen. Go ahead--grab a musket and soldier's hat--you know you want to!

I remember loving coming to this place when i was a child and loving it. It's definitely a place you have to take your kids. It's a perfect place, where you can dress up and play. There is beautiful theatre setups, so your kids can tell a story.
I have had big succes taking my younger siblings here too. So definitely a place you have to visit, especially if you have visited H. C. Andersen's home before or after that. Because then there is something for all of you.

A great place for young kids.
Plenty of costumes to put on, rooms with different themes and space to run around.
My kids loved getting their face painted and painting in the brilliant arts and crafts workshop.
Highly recommended as a 3-4 hours activity.

Really nice place where children can dress up with lots of costumes, play in fairy theatre setups or smaller corners where they can pretend to be writers, sailors, shopkeepers etc. Many items are there for the children's imagination to roam free. Staff are very friendly and we took part in a brief workshop where different children (some of which spoke only English and other only Danish!) were acting a story together. Face paint for all who want it is the final touch on this dream place. Entry tickets are expensive, but children love it. Since it is interactive, I think single children might enjoy it more if they go with some friend.

The imagination goes into overdrive! Also grown ups can dress up... Have fun!!!

Only downside... Your children will not want to go home! 😀😀😀
