Drove here after a day out in Corfu Town. Followed google maps easily and parked in the large parking area.
A lovely spot for photography. Spent about an hour here including having a drink at the bar opposite the monastery while watching the sunset and the planes flying into the airport.

Combine your visit with the plane viewpoint and/or boat trip to the Mouse Island as they all are in one place and located outside the touristic town centre yet easily accessible by bus.
The monastery is very picturesque - located on a small island, is very cosy.

Visually stunning and largely unspoiled, but very small so don’t make this the centre piece of a trip. Other than the view and a brief glimpse inside there is nothing else to see. It can easily be reached by bus from Corfu Town, then it’s a sharp steep descent to sea level. You can combine this with a boat trip around mouse island or do as we did and walk along the jetty and marvel as planes fly close over your head to land at the airport. There are some decent places to eat before/after the descent and you could combine it with Mon Repos.

The small island at one end of Kanoni harbour forms part of The View which every visitor to Corfu has to experience on their holiday. Its just as pretty close-up. You can't see much inside but can walk around the exterior, noting the cats curled up in shady spots. The traditional three-bell tower is extremely photogenic, especially with the single tall tree alongside.

We rode the hop-on hop-off bus to Kanoi to see the Monastery. The restaurant by the bus stop at the top of the hill has reasonable prices and great views. You have to walk down a large number of stairs to get down to the pier, then walk across to the Monastery. The Corfu airport runway is just past the Monastery so it is irritating to listed to the planes as they are landing directly overhead. The Monastery itself is pretty small. For 2 euors per person you can also take a small fishing boat for a 5 minute ride to Mouse Island, that according to mythology is the ship of Odysseus that was stoned by the god Poseidon. There is a small church at the top of the island you can visit.

We got a bus to Corfu Town and then a number 2 bus to Kanoni, which is where the Vlacherna Monastry and Mouse Island are situated. The bus stops at the top where the restaurants / bars and shops are situated. The food and drinks at the Kanavi restaurant have a good choice and prices are competitive, and I was impressed that everytime you ordered anything, the waiter brought a bottle of water for free with your purchase. The Corfu runway is right by the monastery, so is quite exciting watching all the aircraft landing and taking off while you're eating and drinking. We walked down from the restaurant to the monastery and had a look around, there is a well stocked gift shop for you to browse . There are little boats that will take you over to Mouse Island for 3 euros each, where you can walk around the island and climb up the steps to the little chapel and gift shop. It was a nice half day trip out to what is essentially the image of Corfu.

Beautiful setting, great location for photos, easy to park. Lovely cafe to sit and watch the world go by. The aeroplanes land at Corfu airport over the monastery so it’s a perfect place for natural beauty but also to watch the planes coming in

Such a lovely place to visit. The monastery is amazing, also there is a souvenir shop. There's also some cute ducks. Breathtaking place to visit, to watch planes, to take pictures, etc.

Beautiful setting when the sun is shining, and you have a lovely view of the planes overhead. There is a small chapel, a bigger gift shop and some shade for when the sun is baking down. Easy to access, there are steps that take you down from the cafe above.

Not worth going out of your way to see, but kind of cool photo opportunity if in the area or looking at mouse island.

Where did you catch the 2A bus? We are coming into port and I see the green line bus depot, but not sure where to pick up this bus. We will either go directly from the port or we can walk around by the Old Fortress then catch the bus.

Cheryl, we actually went there on a bus tour so cannot give you exact info on where to catch the bus but we did find the following info you may find useful:
Public Transport Corfu City
Kerkyra has a quite well-developed bus line network which is operated by Corfu City Bus SA The city is divided into two zones, where you can travel with single tickets, which are valid for one trip. For use in zone A (city area), the price is 1.20 euros each and within zone B (near surrounding areas such as Kanoni and Achilleion) 1.70 euros each. The tickets are available at ticket machines, in kiosks and from the driver on the bus, but there for an extra charge of 50 cents. A day ticket that is also available costs 5.50 euros at present, entitles the holder to any number of rides and is valid for 24 hours after validation. Single and day tickets must be validated on the blue and white painted and air-conditioned city buses at the start of the journey. The central square San Rocco (Plateia Georgiou Theotoki) is used as a kind of bus station, where many lines meet and a ticket booth is operated.

I visited on a Tuesday but I imagine it's open every day. It's very small but a brilliant location, and I think it would be worth visiting even if the monastery itself is closed.
