Excellent tour with my guide, Robinson. You really need a guide to go with you because there's so much history and context in order to fully appreciate the scope of everything you're seeing.
I wasn't familiar with the history behind the Initiation Well and I was glad for the history lesson provided by Robinson.
If you're claustrophobic and don't do well in the dark, you may think twice about venturing down to check out the well but no worries!
It's not scary and you won't be alone!

We'd seen photos of the initiation well at this place and it looked fascinating. The whole estate is a testament to the Carvalho Monteiro's interest in the occult and esoteric societies of the time and there are symbols and alleged connections to Freemasonry, the Templars, the Rosicrucians etc throughout the site. It is also a testament to vast wealth with decorated grottoes, fountains and follies throughout the estate.
The gardens were beautiful to walk around, even in November and the paths are well laid out and marked. We spent a couple of hours in the grounds and house but you could easily spend double that by exploring some of the smaller pathways.
The well was interesting and the waterfalls pretty and there were great views of the Moorish Castle. Definitely worth a visit.

What an interesting site. Loved it. And, we went on a Saturday in November and really minimal crowds. We bought our tickets online and just walked in but the queue for tickets was just a handful of people. Then walked right into the well too, where we read about 1 hour lines in other seasons.
Really fascinating grounds and building, and very pleasant walking. And, just a short 20 minute easy walk from the train and back. We will go back to see the other sites since we're in Lisbon for awhile, but this was a good one. Highly recommend.

The well was cool, but very crowded. A huge line even though we got their early. Nice walk around the grounds and castle tour.

We were planning a day trip to Sintra when I came across photos of the Initiation Well and decided to add a stop to see it and the rest of Quinta da Regaleira. There will likely be a line when you get to the well, and it might be really long. It goes fast though. One thing that I LOVED was that there were staff encouraging people to keep moving while in the well. You were not rushed, you were welcome to stop and take a photo or two, but it helped weed out all the annoying people who feel like they need to have 100 photos taken of them posing 100 different ways at every attraction. After the well you end up in the tunnels which are pretty neat too. Lots of little areas to see around the grounds with the main building and the well being the two biggest attractions at this site.

The palace isn’t anything particularly special inside, but wow these grounds are stunning! The well and caves especially are a highlight. I arrived before opening time to join the queue, then headed straight to the famous well to enjoy it before it got busy

This is an astonishing place. I’ve never been anywhere like it. Sintra is full of highlights. I can see why this is rated number one. remarkable. The wait for the Well of Initiation is well worth it, if you pardon the pun.

We felt that Quinta de Regaleira was a wonderful oasis, with beautiful gardens, very walkable paths and interesting sights, including the home, chapel and an initiation well. It was easy for our Uber driver to pull up to the entrance to drop us off and it was also easy for us to get another Uber driver to pick us up when we finished. I would not have any desire to see the Pena Palace. I wish we’d stopped with the Quinta de Regaleira and not gone through the considerable traffic waits to get to Pena Palace, then wait to catch the shuttle to the castle, wait to take the shuttle down again… and then wait on an available Uber. It’s not worth the chaos, money or time! Quinta is pleasurable and a Tuk Tuk tour is absolutely all you need, in my opinion, of the other sites in the mountains. Quinta is #1!

The Quinta and it’s buildings were quite interesting, as is the history. But expect the site to be crowded. Two points of advice: 1) The key attraction is the initiation well. We did a guided 90 minute tour which finished at the well… which had a line to enter. It took close to an hour to go through that line. It might be best to arrive early and start with the well. 2) If you drive, parking will likely be off site. Take an Uber, taxi, or tuk-tuk (plenty available) to go from parking to the entry.

we would like to visit quinta da regaleira, pena palace and moors castle. Can i take a tuk tuk at each of them? what is de best option, which we visit first...

I agree with Michael K above.
We took Uber to Pena Palace, and Uber to Quinta de Regaleira (skipped the Moors Castle only because we were running out of time). We actually got our Uber from Pena Palace to Quinta right outside the Moors Castle. If you exit the castle through the gardens, it’s a short walk uphill to Moors Castle.
The reason we did Uber was tuk tuks did not take card—cash only, so be prepared if you want to take the tuk tuks.
The bus from the train station does go to all three, if I remember correctly!

Do you have to purchase tickets to enter? I dont think I want to do a tour as I have a toddler with me. Just go in and look around.

Yes tickets required for entry to the grounds. It is interesting and a bit quirky but wouldnt go out of my way with a toddler in tow.

Penso que o desconto é válido somente para professor local, ou talvez, com carteira e validação internacional.
Aqui não tem muito isso na verdade... (meia usualmente é para seniores e estudantis).
Nao saberei lhe responder com precisão, peço desculpas.
