Stunning views! Honestly looked fake, like something you’d see on a postcard. We enjoyed that there were lots of paved/boardwalk paths, making this more accessible and much easier than many of the other beautiful Algarve hikes. Don’t worry though, still PLENTY of hills and stairs. Overall, just amazing. Our favorite scenery of the trip.

The evening was approaching and after a visit to the old city of Lagos, we had time only for a short stop at Ponta da Piedade. It so happened that we arrived just before sunset, and together with many other visitors we were able to enjoy the lovely sunset from the top of the cliffs at this fantastic site. We had no time to take a walk along the many footpaths prepared in the area, but that will be one of the attractions of this site. We also observed murmurations which are huge groups of starlings that twist, turn, swoop and swirl across the sky in beautiful shape-shifting clouds.

When we visited, the waters were fairly rough so many of the boat trips were cancelled. Anyone wanting to do a coastal tour needs to re-consider/re-plan if this embargo (especially of Benagil cave) persists.
We had a car so we were able to drive fairly close to the point itself, plenty of parking in the area.
The hike to the lighthouse was around 15 mins from that point, fair flat so a leisurely walk even in the sun.
If you go further along the coastal walk, there is a nice area to take in the sunset (but get there early as the nice spots are taken up quickly).

Beautiful area to walk. Scenery and beaches amazing. Could not go kayaking in caves due to rough water. Would definitely return.

Gorgeous views. We drove to the nearest car park which is free, and walked down along all the adjoining boardwalks taking in all the views and finally descending down the steps at the end for a closer look. Bring water and sun protection as it is hot out there and there are lots of steps if you go all the way down to the bottom. Boat company at the bottom of the steps offering tours for €25/ adult. Small cafe towards the tip and public bathrooms beside this (looked a little shabby from the outside but didn’t use). Definitely recommend a visit to this beautiful place.

Family of 4, children aged 7 & 11. Beautiful location, the boardwalk set up really is great. Stunning views.
We went early morning and only a handful of people around. Currently a lot of renovation in that area with a lot of properties being built so the road down was closed but there was another free car park around 12-15 min walk away. One of the highlights of our trip.
Actually looked like it does in the photos and some wonderful birds flying around.

Excellent experience boat trip with kayak tour of sea caves
Had Martin ,Captain and Zoya as our guides .
Was great fun saw loads of caves . Was busy and a couple of areas more powerful boats weren’t courteous. Which caused lots of waves and a couple of boats capsized! They got sorted and were fine .
Good overall experience! Only 12 plus the crew .

This is an amazing scenic spot. I enjoyed going down the steps to the bottom to view some outside caves. As I had already seen the inside of the grottos a few days earlier by boat. A nice area to hike to from Lagos and beyond. Definitely a place not to miss out on.

Es sind einige wenige Kilometer zu Fuß - Weg auf der Straße. Ab einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt kann man an der Steilküste entlang. Das lohnt sich.

Are the small boats that tour the caves still running? (Early sept 2020). We visited a couple of years ago and walked down the steps at the point and took a boat tour; just walk up and pay... are they running at the moment? Prefer to do that than a tour out of Lagos...

Only if you follow signs back into town & then to the beaches. You cannot swim from the actual spot that is Ponte de Piedade. It is all steep cliffs. Absolutely no jumping because they would have to pick up pieces at the bottom. Drive back into town please and follow the signs.

Hi, we will be visiting Ponta da Piedade in the middle of march on a friday afternoon. Will there be small boats there on-site that we don't have to book ahead, or are those only an option during tourist season? Also, anyone know of any kayak tours that (safely) allow children under 5 to Ponta Da Piedade? We have a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old. Thanks

Hi there! As far as I know, there are no boats on-site where you just can hop in for a tour. I think most of them are in Lagos Marina. I suggest that you ask your hotel for tours. They can help you book one. Or check tour agencies by the marina.

Hi, this is from a local website and not my own words: Faro is connected to Lagos by the Algarve regional railway and Lagos is the final station along the line. The journey takes 1 hour 45 minutes and a single ticket costs €7.40. ... These tickets cannot be pre-booked as this is a regional train, but there is always plenty of space on the train.
