“Picturesque but close to activities in the Winter”

Beautiful Lake situated at the side of Neuchâtel. Very scenic with the snowy Alps in the background on a clear day. Disappointingly boat rides on the lake are only peak season so other than enjoying the picturesque scenes or walking round it there’s little else to do.

Near the city of Neuchâtel - you shall find this beautiful lake- it is Switzerland's largest lake and along its shore there are several cities and villages. It is 38+ km long , more the 8 km in width and has a surface of more than 218 sqkm ... so it is a lot of water. During the summer , water sport, sailing can be one of the activities to enjoy ... also walking, fishing, and even swimming (in the hot summer month) - can be practiced. I know that there are boat trips on the lake ... there are several sites to visit like "La Tene" and a lot to discover on the slopes around the lake. So when you are in the area of Neuchatel for sure it will be very interesting to take a walk on the shores - if not not more. Enjoy ... it is worth it.

I know that there are boat trips on the lake ... there are several sites to visit like "La Tene" and a lot to discover on the slopes around the lake.
So when you are in the area of Neuchatel for sure it will be very interesting to take a walk on the shores - if not not more.
Enjoy ... it is worth it.

Have a peaceful promenade walk there

If you are in Neuchatel, you can't miss this place. Here you find good restaurants with a view over the lake, promenade path, playgrounds, areas for a volley, etc. To me, it's the best part of the city, as I can refresh my mind after a long day and have a great walk there observing the transparent lake. Some people swim there even when it's cold!

Beautiful views in the center

Really beautiful lake promenade in the center of Neuchatel, it is possible to sit on concrete or also in the pebbles of the pebbles beach. Directly access to the water from the center so you can swim! But limited space. Visited in winter, a sunny and warm day and everyone was sitting outside enjoying the sun, it was an awesome feeling. Amazing sunset too.

Great Lakes Boat Tour

Leaving our car at the above ground lakefront parking (one of the best kept I have seen so far, also with spotless toilets) in Murten, we took a boat tour from the nearby embarkation point to Neuchatel (passing through a surprisingly pleasant canal connecting the two), looked around in Neuchatel, then went for the Lake Neuchatel northern side boat tour, and had another bout of tourism in Neuchatel, before finally returning by boat to Murten.
The LNM boats we were on are in good condition, and staffed by friendly people. The only bummer is the obligation to wear COVID masks on deck as well, but this is a Swiss government regulation.
Despite the masks, highly recommended on a hot summer day.

Just wonderfull

Just wonderfull. I've been living in this area for 7 years now. Did a couple of lake tours on my bike, many grills and countless walks. The scenary of imense beauty will surprise you in any season. I just can't get enough of it.

Went to the laje had a cruise a little cold and rain but still enjoyed it you could see the snow on tge Mountain beautiful view.

Of course , it’s pretty . A boat trip is a must and a local wine by the edge of the lake is a treat. Lovely place .

This lake is gorgeous. It stretches so far out that you can't even see the end and it looks like the sea. The water is very clear, you can see to the bottom in shallow areas and some swimming/water activities are permitted. A lovely spot to sit in the warm weather and have a picnic! They even provide some picnic benches, and there is plenty of shade to spread out a blanket among the trees in the Jeunes Rives park.
