On a beautiful rainy Winter day, we were enjoying leisurely wandering around the city of Basel. We had walked along both sides of the Rhine, and decided to take the current-powered ferry across the Rhine River, back to the Munster Cathedral. It was a short, peaceful, and very inexpensive ride!

WEW took the ferry across the RHINE after seeing the TINGLEY MUSEUM. Not expensive and takes a VERY SHORT TIME TO CROSS THE RHINE RIVER. Quite convenient

Just next to the bridge, you can cross the river with this nice little boat. Really easy to use, you just have to wait until the boat came. The price is not so expensive and you have a nice view on the old town.

The ferry is very convenient and extremely environmentally friendly. Only the force of the current is used to cross the river. The price is also very good as for Basel. The trip itself is about 5 minutes.

Attractive and ecological way of crossing the river like in old times. It takes just a few minutes and costs less than 2 francs. Dogs are niot allowed on board.i

A must do, especially now when there are fewer tourists. We crossed twice and were alone both times. Gave a chance to chat with the ferrymen. The boats are 100% clean, use the energy of the river to push them across. The view up from the water is a perspective you don't a chance to enjoy.

Those small ferries are a special way to cross the river Rhine. Not only tourists, but also the local use them frequently.

I see this is very highly rated - by me also. Note that this is not a fancy boat ride. This is a 5-10 minute ride from one side of Basel to the other. But it's quiet and charming. The boat moves by the strength of the current and a rudder - not with any motor. And each ride has no more than a handful of people. So it's very relaxing. Charming.

Hello, I would use the left and the right one from the old bridge (Mittlere Rheinbrücke) So you will have the nicest view to see the old town or the Münster (the old cathedral) and on both sides you can continue your sightseeing through Basel. And it's cheap anyway, you only pay about 4 $ for both rides per person. Hope it helped, wish you a great time here and best regards from a Basel citizen

We went on the trams - free, ask at your hotel for a travel card - encourages tourisim. The Rathaus is beautiful & well worth a visit, also the Basel Minster - be prepared to climb a lot of steps to the top though, but well worth it- the views are amazing! Get off the beaten track to the smaller cafe's & bars - much cheaper & we found more friendly. Beautiful city with lost to do.

Hi Anna Marie once again. You can try also the ferry boat “Klingental, Vogel Gryff” between Mittlere Brücke and Johanniterbrücke, that is very richly decorated again this year. Generally, the ferry boat operates daily from 11 am to 5 pm in Winter.
I wish You very pleasant stay in Basel.

Yes you can take a pram. You may want to sit closer to the cabin for shade, and its rarely windy to the point that water splashes on deck.
