We visited this wonderful shop with our private walking tour guide. We're so glad she introduced us to this stunning workshop! The artisans were welcoming and friendly and showed us how they create their unbelievable works of art.

The showroom is like a museum of the highest quality craftsmanship. What a treat to experience this rare artform that deserves preserving.

Jacopo and Bruno are really masters in Pietra Dura Mosaics, the best masters. Each one of their works is a masterpiece, unique, precious and perfect. If you forgot to buy a mosaic in the "bottega" in Florence it is not too late: buy your precious Italian artworks at commessofiorentino dotcom

My partner and I stumbled on this incredible place while wandering some back streets of Florence. We were met by a lovely girl (regretfully we didn't get her name) who generously showed us around the workshop and gallery, explaining the process. All the pieces are made the tradition way, by hand. It was truly beautiful. A happy chance stumbling 😊

I was able to visit I Mosaici di Lastrucci as a part of the Salon/Sanctuary Sacro/Profano Festival guided tour through Florentine museums, but it is also open for visitors who are not part of an organized program. Seeing the hand cutting of rock with a wire saw and the delicate filing and sanding required to get each piece to fit precisely with no seams was very impressive. The workmanship of the men and women who work there is unbelievable. The generosity of their time in explaining the craft and showing off the works was very much appreciated. Someday I would hope to be able to purchase one of their larger works. It was a rare opportunity to see an art form that has few workshops still functioning.

This working studio also houses a small museum of pietre dure objects. The people who work here are charming and helpful, but not at all intrusive. We bought a lovely small "painting," and Enrico, the artist who made it (a 35-year veteran at Lastrucci) explained all the stones to us, as well as the process. The staff is also expert at shipping items so you don't have to carry them. One of the highlights of our trip to Florence.

Don't hesitate to enter this fascinating studio. I was a bit intimated going in, but the family is incredibly gracious and give a wonderful tour of their work and gallery. Everything is done in the centuries old tradition and is incredibly labor intensive. You could stare at some of the finished works for hours - absolutely incredible workmanship. Obviously this kind of quality is not inexpensive so don't go in expecting to pick up trinkets but if you are interested in mosaic art you'll be sorry to miss it.

This is a wonderful place to see the artists at work. Intriguing and beautiful don't do the art form justice. This is a must see. We visited in the evening around 5pm. The shop was not at all crowded and the artists were working on various pieces. We had a 2 year old in tow (stroller) but were easily able to enjoy the works on the wall and watch the artists at their craft. We didn't get a tour, but thoroughly enjoyed our visit even so.

This was the highlight of our trip to the Mediterranean. Old world trade of mosaic stone art. Tough place to fine but worth the time as well as seeing the talent of these artists. Family run business that is very inviting. A must go to place.

We felt so welcomed in the studio. We were given a personal tour on how they cut the stones and make the mosaics. Then we visited their gallery. Such a rare treat - and such absolutely beautiful works of art.

If you are already familiar with the art of pietre dure you absolutely cannot miss a visit to I Mosaici di Lastrucci the next time you visit Firenze. If you have not yet seen much of this work, then first visit the Opificio delle Pietra Dure and/or the Galleria Palatina in the Palazzo Pitti then go to this botega to see the AMAZING works in progress by these very talented artists! We visited in December 2014 and were met by the very friendly and ever gracious Asami who gave us a detailed tour of examples of the past and present of the art of mosaics in "hard stones" practiced by her husband, Iacopo and his father Bruno Lastrucci. The prices of the pieces reflect the very labor intensive process of the art. But if you are able to make a selection, Asami makes the whole process easy and enjoyable. She took care of the shipping and our priceless picture arrived home in a beautiful package soon after we ourselves returned from Italy.
Asami also went above and beyond the expected and gave us invaluable assistance when we asked for help with an unrelated matter, which we really appreciated.
We highly recommend this workshop and we plan to visit it every chance we get!
