“First v low * rating ive ever given but feel fellow nature lovers should be aware..”

This is a truly dispiriting place to visit.Admittedly in November, but so scruffy and neglected,that you would have to be a time traveller to imagine this seaside urban town,in a pleasing presentation. We were travelling around the island hoping for a picnic area/cafe/swimming area..😣.. however the sea is a gorgeous colour..and you can't spoil a paddle!

We love the beach at Aranella. It was small, but the variety of food you can buy and the cleanliness of it rates a 5/5. The water is pristine and warm. The location is an easy drive from Siracusa. There are also buses if you don’t drive. We highly recommend it.

Beautiful..... but everywhere was closed!

Our mistake going out of season with no drinks, we assumed we could buy drinks and lunch there but everything was closed even the B&B and cafe up the road, luckily a Italian couple took pity on us and gave some bottled water.

Otherwise the beach was beautiful with clear water and a hassle free journey on the local bus from Siracusa for €1.50 each.

The sea food was wasted and we get sick... two days of pain... very bad service. Unbelievable to get sick for a plate of shrimps! Avoid it!

If you are looking for a sandy beach and you are near Syracuse, Lido Arenella is probably the one beach that you shouldn’t miss.

The water is crystal clear, the sand particles are just the right size, great for kids.

The Lido is quite big so although it can be crowded you can still enjoy it. Like any Lido though weekends are another story. But for weekdays this place is like haven.

The facilities are very good, the food is ok. The staff is friendly and they try to help you best way possible. On Friday they had a nice DJ playing lively music so it was also very nice.

Overall a very satisfying experience.

Nice but crowded

This is definitely a place that locals come to and it is full of young couples and teenagers.
A very cool beach but hard to find a place to lay your towel if you dont come early.
Water is clear and clean and you can walk far out and still be able to touch the sand at the bottom.

We were in here early on Monday morning - it was not very crowded till noon. Good fascilities and everything is clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is not awesome, but it is good.

A nice, little sandy beach very close to Syracuse.

I would not suggest you go in July and August, when this little beach is totally packed. But in early June it is still fine, and the nearby café/bar (although very institutional looking!) is already open. if you prefer a bit of solitude, you can always walk a bit further along the shores, to the rocky part of them, where you can find pools of transparent water among volcanic rocks. if you choose this option, bring a sturdy pair of tennis shoes: you will need them to get to the water. But be warned: in early June the water is till very cold.

Too busy for my taste - points on quantity and not quality

Too busy and deckchairs are too many and too close to each other. The food is not tasty and you have to queue up for a long time to be able to eat. Everything is oriented on quantity rather than quality. Its a shame using a beautiful beach in this way. This is not a complaint towards the managment but a system that ruins the nature and only point on profit. So sad.

Day out at beach & Public bus experience!

We visited this beach from Syracuse for a day out at the beach.
The beach itself was nice, very busy but you would expect this on a weekend in July. The water was lovely clear, clean & cooling.
We got the bus no. 23 from the bus station in Syracuse, this was no problem. There is a place to buy fruit & cold drinks as you enter the beach.
The problem started when we tried to get back as no scheduled buses turned up! We waited for 2 hours in the heat & then gave up & we’re lucky enough to be able to share a taxi back to town with some others that were also waiting for the bus.
This cost us 20 Euros per couple. So just be aware that it’s a nice place to go for a swim but you might have trouble getting back if you don’t have your own transport.
