very interesting place
Beautiful chapel of sorts, very elaborate plaster figures surrounding the chapel, worth a visit. Apparently this chapel was not used to serve mass, but as a place for discussion and speeches.

Beautiful, simple, elegant in its charming architecture. Intriguing entrance, pretty simple, a hidden gem. All white with a very few golden touches. Impressive and eloquent.

Stunning oasis of calm - get the audio guide
It is well worth the small entry fee to see the incredibly beautiful baroque interior of this church. Get the free audio guide (online on your phone) - it explains the meaning of the sculpture far better than the paper one, and really added to our appreciation.
The whole complex is an oasis of quiet within the busy centre. It has a nice gift shop too.

don't sit!
The church had been emptied of all chairs and the banquettes along the walls filled with “don’t sit” signs.

Nasty management that take your money but go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome.

So elaborate. The detail is incredible. I'm sure you could visit this room for years and still notice something new. Best to have a guide that can explain and point out the interesting details.

Must be seen - five stars insufficent!!

This is surely a highlight of any visit to Palermo. But – before you leave home try to see the episode about Palermo (I think it’s episode 2) of “Sicily Unpacked”, the history and food series by Andrew-Graham Dixon and Giorgio Locatelli. This will give you the context for what you are about to see - and surely inspire you to make sure you actually get to the oratorio!
The exterior of the oratorio belies the wonders that await you within – the whole interior is a lavish display of stucco work crafted by Giacomo Serpotta; it’s widely regarded as his best work, and you can see why. From three walls hang dozens of plaster figures, ranging from cheeky cherubs, cupids and angels to statues of Esther and Judith. We loved the way the figures were often sitting, legs dangling, looking down on us!
The centrepiece of the whole display is the sculpture group depicting the Battle of Lepanto, a famous naval victory of the Christian fleets over the Ottomans in 1571.

Oratorio Santissimo Rosario in Santa Cita (1590) must be seen to be believed. This must be Serpotas’s masterpiece. He worked on it from 1687-1718. Every piece is a masterpiece of Baroque stucco art. More on my blog, free, garyjkirkpatrick .com

PERFECT BAROC SCULPTURES - OVERWHELMING WHITE
A must see in Palermo. Religious baroc architecture, overwhelming beauty of religious / historical sculptures and baby figures. Take a brocure or a guide to read and know more details about the figures and art, it will for sure make your visit more interesting and detailed

Top of our list of places to see in Palermo.
Pasangan
Saw this church featured on Sicily Unpacked, and it was top of our list to visit.
It would be so easy to dismiss this building from the outside, as it is quite plain.
But inside it is jaw dropping! Such incredible artistry and the Putti (little angels) have such amazing and life like expressions.
So much to see, I don't think we managed to take it all in.
It is worth buying a ticket to cover entry to all the churches.
