Palazzo Drago was one of the highlights of our visit to Palermo. The palace has been superbly restored and maintained, unlike most Palermo palaces, while maintaining all the interest and charm of a historic family home. Grandiose rooms, frescoed ceilings. We were guided by the proprietor, whose love and enthusiasm for the home of his ancestors made the visit even more fascinating. Strongly recommended.

We spent a wonderful four days in Palermo and visited some fantastic places, including The Royal Palace, The Palatine Chapel, the beautiful cathedral and Monreale but, undoubtedly, the highlight of the whole trip was our visit to Palazzo Drago. It was the last thing we did prior to catching our ferry to Genoa and we nearly didn’t make it in time, but we were so glad that we managed to squeeze it in. As others have already commented, The Count is a wonderful person, a genial host and so passionate about his family home. If you do nothing else in your time in Palermo do make a point of visiting this absolute treasure.

Be persistent because it’s not always open but well worth the effort. Led by the Count himself our private tour ( just the 2 of us by sheer luck) was a fabulous insight into a great historic palazzo cared for by the family for several hundred years. He was delightful and very gracious about my very bad Italian so we muddled through. There is a lift if you need it just ask. His wife then took us across to an award winning granita bar across the road and introduced us and she was right they were amazing 😃

I stumbled across this charming palazzo whilst exploring Palermo on a solo trip. Giovanni, the owner personally showed me around his house which has been so well kept. He made such an effort to speak in English and it was wonderful to see the portraits of his ancestors and to take a walk around his wonderful home. Well worth the €10 for this hidden gem!

The highlight of this tour is the host (and owner) because he brings a degree of passion to the tour that you generally don't get elsewhere. We felt that we had somehow had special treatment because it was just such a great experience. Having read all of the other reviews we now see that this is the same feeling everyone else gets, which we think is a fantastic credit to both the family and the incredible building.
If you like historic buildings, art, architecture, history or stories, take the tour you won't regret it.

The person who is accompanying the tour is the actual owner of the house, which definiyrlu contributed for the pleasant experience.

This beautiful palazzo is a must see when visiting Palermo! Me and my husband got a personal tour in Italian, French and English by the owner. We where amazed to see the beautiful rooms and artifacts that belong to the personal collection of the family that has lived there for over 300 years. Most amazing where the only certified templars ring in the world and a beautiful Rossetti painting. Also the paintings on the ceiling and plastering are very spectacular. A highlight of our holidays.

We made a special detour to return to this Palazzo which we had spotted at a time when we could not stop.

We talked to the reception who confirmed their hours.

We returned two hours before they were due to close, but it was all locked up.

Pretty poor customer service.

This was a lovely discovery in the heart of Arab-Norman Palermo, a stone's throw from the Cathedral. The palazzo was originally built in the 11th century apparently and developed in the centuries that followed. The current owner has lovingly restored the 18th and 19th century cieling frescoes and put on display an eclectic art collection comprising paintings, sculptures, ceramics as well as personal memorabilia dating back through his own family. He takes you on a personalised guided tour of the various rooms of the 'piano nobile' punctuated by historical and contemporary commentary. He is as full of character as the palazzo itself! An hour very well spent!
