A market where local people buy fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy and other daily necessities. Very active in the morning while in the afternoon many stalls close.
On a clear day you can see Mount Etna towards the northwest.

I would not pay a tour to go there! But it is a nice experience if you are walking around and if you like markets. You can see and buy from everything, since food, meat, vegetables, fruit, clothes, shoes, electronics,….

If you are looking for market on which you can buy most of needed and needless things to live this is the place.
Prices are matter of negotiation so don’t give up if you like something.

1. The main market is open daily. Do get up early because they close round 12:00.
2. Great fresh produce if you are looking to cook or have raw fruits.
3. No one will cheat you or hassle. Relax, be cheerful.
4. Clothing - Second hand or damaged (look carefully) ARE A BARGAIN at 2 to 5 Euros. For new merchandise negotiate reasonably though not rudely.
5. Know what you need or want but do not get greedy since carrying great quantities of goods can be exhausting.

Markets are always good places to get the feel of a place. At the daily market (except Sundays) on the quite large Piazza Carlo Alberto, not far off Via Etnea, can be found anything from food to cheap clothes. It is a lively place, as they usually are, popular also with immigrants. Unless one is looking for something particular, it is not a must see for a visitor to Catania.

By the Piazza Carlo Alberto, referring to the Savoyan King of Sardinia of that name, is the church of the Santuario della Madonna della Chiesa with its typical Sicilian Late Baroque facade, which one will constantly see, when strolling between the market stalls.

For someone that likes to experience the smells, sights and sounds of how the locals shop this is a good place to stroll.

Crowded, not very interesting place unless you're into cheap clothes and the usual market stuff. Seen much better.

We had not read about this market, but stumbled on it by accident.

It is a true local market, and it made us realise that there is a lot of poverty in Sicily. Having visited Italian markets before, we had never seen second hand clothing for sale.

However the fruit and vegetables were very colourful, and it was an experience walking round.

Not something to be missed, but worth walking round if like us you come across it.

One of those markets -bazaars where you never knew they existed whilest you popped on them when you thought you lost:) Kids found it funny to see all veggies and fishes and meat. Men shouting and advertising their products. The veggie -food part was nice! The clothes - second hand item part was more pushy to buy so we just escaped:) When it was all over the place seems wuite different and nice. With lovely basilica on top.
