The entrance ticket to the church of San Giuliano includes the visit to the church and the climbing to the church top.
The church has frescoes by the Catanese painter Giuseppe Rapisardi, and a main altar in colorful marbles.
From the top of the church there is a superb view over the city of Catania and mount Etna. There are 147 steps to the top.

A lot of people gave a lot of money to pay for all this art, so go and enjoy. Make sure you look all over-- I was engrossed in the different areas and looked behind and up when I was about halfway through-- it really is an attractive and well-done space, well-maintained.

We came by this church by accident but was stunned by the history and view on top of the bell tower. It provides a panoramic view of the entire city and could serve as the beginning of the city walk in Catania. In addition, the church guide also extremely nice and friendly.

I came by San Giuliano by coincidence. They offered a tour (in either Italian or English) and I had time to kill so I took it... The tour guide Valeria was great and very informative. The tour includes explanations on the history of Catania (focused on city planning, construction and architecture), on the Benedictine nuns, on the history of these monasteries in Catania (there are many Benedictine monasteries in this city), and on the adjacent monastery. It is less focused on the church itself, though Valeria is very informative and will answer any question with patience and passion for the subject matter. The tour will take you to the terrace overlooking the monastery and to the tip of the dome, offering a panorama of the city and the Etna. It is actually NOT a long climb, as the church itself nestles on the hill and is above most of the main attractions. I found it well worth the money.

Amazing church, kind of hidden from the beaten path so to say but very much a gem of the city of Catania.
The guided tour is cheap (~€4) and you also get a great view of the entire city from its terrace and dome. The guides are very knowledgeable and will provide you with very interesting facts and history of the church itself and the adjacent monastery.
Definitely do not miss out!

We enjoyed an unexpectedly pleasant visit to San Giuliano after the rain this morning. Salvatore our guide showed us the choir balcony where the cloistered nuns of the Benedictine order used to sing during services and then took us up to the cupola of the dome itself. Not a difficult climb and well worth it for the views over the historic city of Catania and to have Salvatore pointing out the main sights. Definitely recommend this for any visitors to Catania who enjoy visiting old buildings.

There are 4 churches that are close at hand on Via Del Crociferi. While San Giuliano is no longer used for services it is available for tours. Our tour guide took us to the choir loft and rooftop where we enjoyed a splendid view of the surrounding city. An inexpensive commitment of cash or time, a visit here is worth the effort.

The church is stunning in its architecture. Luisa, our guide, was excellent showing us the choir and taking us out onto the roof for wonderful views of Catania and the magnificent churches on Via Crociferi. Great value and highly recommended

Only costs a few Euros to enter and this includes a guided tour to the dome which gives you views across Catania. The inner church is not spectacular but more modest than some Italian churches. The best part of the visit was our guide who gave us a good insight into history of the church but then could also answer our questions about why Catania's emblem includes an elephant, why is there so many churches in Via Crociferi etc
