Arrived at Zanser Alm parking around 9am and parking area was fifty percent full. As directed by parking attendant, we set off on a clockwise hike of the recommended loop. Everyone seemed to be hiking clockwise but anti-clockwise would work also , except that the mountain views would come into play on the last half of the hike.
We think the trail is called the Adolf Munkel trail. Very soon we encountered stunning views of the Puez Odles peaks. In fact the first half of this hike was one of the most photogenic we have ever hiked. There were lots of people on the trail. It seemed every few hundred meters, there was a perfect selfie location.
Then we got lost. Signage sucks. Our first clue was that the hordes of hikers disappeared. We started meeting folks hiking the opposite direction. They told us to turn and head back to trail 34 or 36 which would take us back to the parking area at Zanser Alm. That trail entered meadow and forest with just occasional mountain views. The trail itself deteriorated to mud and trees roots. Not well maintained. We had to keep asking folks for the Zanser Alm parking. Signage sucks!
Just remember, if hiking clockwise, follow the sign for 34 or 36 to the right! Otherwise, you will end up miles from your car.

I researched this place extensively because of my love for photography. I’m currently travelling through north Italy with a friend in his camper van, and we were lucky enough to find some incredible vantage points with jaw dropping scenery.

My favorite hike of all time! We parked at Zanser Alm and hiked for about 5 hours (including breaks for lunch, a beer, and many many photo ops) to Malga Brogles and then to Geisler Alm and finally back to Zanser Alm. It’s not a hard hike, but not a casual stroll either. About 10 miles maybe a little more. There are, of course, harder options closer to the peaks but we avoided those. The views of the Odles are spectacular, almost otherworldly.

Puez-Geisler is the main attraction in Bolzano. This nature park is worth a visit and the nature beauty at its best. With clear day, the whole panorama with Puez Geisler mountain at the background is so worth a million sight. We hope we will be back someday to enjoy more and do the hiking in this region.

My wife and I hiked the Adolf Munkel Weg/Trail. Excellent hike right to the base of the mountains. Not overly difficult, but has some demands. We really enjoyed the Geisler Alm, picnic lunch, and relaxing before making our way down. You must visit.

What a wonderful place!
When I was a kid we had this ice cream bar called "Dolomiti" and I always wondered how they would actually look like.
It took me a few years before I would find out and though of course they the Dolomites have nothing to do with the small, sweet childhood treat they are way more beautiful than I could ever imagine.
Traveling there in mid-May it was actually still pretty cold which gave us the advantage that during the hikes we barely met anybody. So, having the Geisler Park all by ourselves made it even more magical.
The only disadvantage was that most huts were still closed. Luckily the Schlüterhütte opened the day when we were there. Cold from the rain the hot vegetable soup and a big plate of Kaiserschmarrn along with a talk with the owner made us really happy.
We did some of the classic hiking trails around the foothills of the Geisler group as well as the Günther-Messner-Steig which offered not only a strenuous hike we really enjoyed but also great views.

After a night of stay in Lago di Braies we started to drive to Val di Funes to see the famous church of Santa Maddalena and it’s been a great experience the beauty and grandeur of the awesome Dolomites.

ciao, dovrei andare in val di funes e vorrei ammirare il foliage con percorsi non troppo difficoltosi (diciamo dislivello non superiore a 300/350 mt. Mi potreste mandare dei percorsi di questo tipo?
ringrazio in anticipo!

Добрый день! Как добраться из Больцано до Puez-Geisler Nature Park? Поездом до Кьюза и потом автобусом до С. Магдалена? Или есть другие варианты? Спасибо за ответы!

almost surely you will find snow but almost all the paths are open. I advise you to have crampons or snowshoes or both: maybe you can find ice. You can reach some refuge, but I don't know which are open in this period. If or when you come in south Tirol, could you write to me directly for more information.
I'm sorry for my bad english.
Bye

Si, anche d'inverno ci si può andare con ciaspole (oppure solo scarponcini belli resistenti) e ben equipaggiati; che io sappia alcuni rifugi e malghe tengono anche aperto d'inverno.
