What a cool experience!
During our visit we learned about the whole process of cheese making ... from getting the milk in the tanks to putting the chees on the table. And though it doesn´t seem to be over complicated you can see and feel that there is - and has to be! - a lot of experience and competence to produce that kind of quality.

Parmigiana Reggiano for all!

If in Parma and want to tour a parmesan cheese dairy, look no further. Our host, Roberta and the three cheese makers were wonderful! You get to see all the stages of cheese making (we took the 8:45am slot), ask questions, take pictures and visit the different cheese storage rooms. My teens also had fun. If you like Parmigiana Reggiano cheese, go here. It is a must see!

Great tour takes you to a family farm who has worked every single day for the past 25 years goes through the cheese process start to finish. Great value.

It’s amazing to see how fantastic is the parmigiano reggiano making. All was perfectly described and the cheese taste was amazing also. After all there is a little shop where you can buy cheese and more at great price

Really loved this tour we were allowed a lot of time to watch the daily production of the cheeses, not a touristic readymade activity but real activity. The cheese makers really proud of their product and good explanations.👍👍

Very friendly people. We got to see the making of the cheese but unfortunatly the explanation wasn’t always understandable because of the machines. They asked us which language we prefered (English) but continued in Italian..
But we are pleased with the tour. Afterwards you can buy cheese in their little shop at a very good price!

We spent a wonderful morning with Roberta & her team learning how Parmigiano Reggiano cheese was made. It went for approx 2.5 hours and you get to see every step right up close. This is a family business and everyone was so passionate and friendly. We got the train from Reggio Emilia and then a taxi (20mins) to San Pier Damiani. Highly recommend a visit. Thanks Roberta!

Interesting and fun way to learn about what the region is famous for!

I was looking for a tour that didn't take up the whole day, was fun and authentic and didn't make me not want to eat the product (this is why we skipped the prosciutto tour - haha) . I would highly recommend this tour if you are a cheese fan. You learn so much - such as "parmesan" cheese is not the same as authentic parmigiano-reggiano, it's a knock off that in some cases doesn't even have the same ingredients. You learn about the different grades of cheese and why some is better for grating - only the best is kept for eating in chunks and how to spot authentic , stamped with the official seal parmigiano-reggiano at the store when you get back home. You get to try differently aged cheese at the end and there is zero pressure to buy anything but we wanted to take some home and we are so glad we did. It would cost triple back in the US.
The farm is run by a family and the son conducted our tour. I was surprised at the dedication it takes a cheesemaker to hone his craft. They picked us up at our hotel spot on time and returned us back after about 1.5-2 hrs.
We had a small blip because it stated on their website they were closed on the day we wanted, but then the hotel arranged a tour for us and it was this same tour. Apparently, the son is not the official tour guide and when that person isn't there it shows the tour to be unavailable. Perhaps ask your hotel to check in case you are unable to book online.
Great way to learn about one of the main specialties in this region!

The real Parmigiano

After the visit we had to the Prociutto factory we again had a great tour with Mattia!

Every step in the process is described and excellent explained. After the tour you can taste the parmigiano, 12, 24 and 30+ months, with sparkling red wine and/or water.

Worth every €!

Well worth a visit!

We booked ourselves online.
On arrival Roberta greeted us for our tour. Super enjoyed this 7th generation family run business.
You get up close and personal to hear all about it, touch it, smell it, taste it.
Thanks for the experience. I highly suggest you add if you are in Parma.
