A hidden jewel in the middle of Napoli.

Great church, worth the visit. Take the guided tour and learn something new about the history of the church and the site it’s on since the early Greek colony of Neapolis.
€5 to help with the restoration work is for the tour and it goes towards the ongoing restoration.

One of the best of the many churches, in Naples, worth the time to read up

Reasonable to get to, on either the metro or by bus, be aware of crowding during peak times however.
Spend your time looking and taking pictures for yourself, guides are good, live guides better than audio guide.

Excellent historical background!

We discovered today by chance that a tour was offered to explain the background of this church and its relation to the Corporation of silk merchants in the 15th century. The tour by the young guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Very interesting finds such as the layers of the medieval, Roman and Greek city, the old crypt, the majolica tiles and many others. Highly recommended!

“An amazing hour of history and art!”

Amazing experience visiting the church of SS. Filippo e Giacomo in Naples. Beautiful tour of the church, its sacristy, crypt, courtyard, and underground excavations, Done in Italian (in my case, but they also do ones in English) clearly and informatively. Superbly educated young people with great devotion (and knowledge of) to the sites. An example worthy of emulation elsewhere in Italy.
