A wonderful museum for a few of reasons: 1) it has a wide collection of artworks in the permanent exhibit that touch on many centuries building towards modern times. The collection is especially notable for its focus on Naples itself. You could see the evolution of the city through the eyes of the artists who painted her. 2) it houses short-term exhibits so that it attracts multiple visits (when we were there, they had a Warhol exhibit, for example). 3) it houses the last known work by Caravaggio. I have said in other reviews, and I'm sure in future ones, as well, that Caravaggio is one of my wife's favorite artists. Tickets are easy to purchase at the door, and the visitors are not as many as some of the other sites, so you don't necessarily need to purchase ahead of time unless a major exhibit in on. Definitely worth a visit on a visit to Naples. The first-floor coffee shop is also a nice place to sit and rest before venturing out again into the busy city.

this is a mess. according to the staff member, the collection moved from the original location (a sumptuous palazzo) to a nondescript steel-and-glass structure a few hundred feet away - but both the Google and Trip Adv listings still have the old address, and it has a street sign saying "Zevallos Gallerie" - highjly misleading and frustrating. Deprived of the orginal setting, the collection is both meager and unimpressive. The gem of the collection - a Caravaggio - has been on loan to a London gallery for a long time. Don't.
